I went to see my sister in Sutton yesterday.

I left to come home to Windlesham at about 11pm. Saw 2 big signs on my way up the A217 towards Reigate telling me the A3 would be closed between the M25 and A247 on the weekend of 29 September to 3 October.

Why didn't they tell me the M25 clockwise would be closed that night! banghead

I had to backtrack to Burgh Heath, down Reigate Road and around the Ewell by-pass to get to the A3 at Tolworth which was the posted diversion.

Lovely I thought, but that was closed at Cobham so I had to detour through Weybridge to get back to the M25 at Chertsey which had 2 lanes closed before I got to the M3 which had an overnight closure between J4 and J4a, but I left a J3 to join the A322 - that also had a lane closed. mad

I didn't see anything happening apart from some cones being moved! How does this help sustain non-renewable resources or improve air quality?

I was headed back from Cobham nbound on Tuesday night. A3 was shut from Oxshott and road closure at the Scilly Isles so I had to detour via Surbiton.

It transpires that someone tried to hang themselves from the crossing over the underpass, fell into the road and was hit by a drink driver..!

I feel like changing my user name to Jonah!

On Saturday I was going to Castle Combe, but the A420 was closed due to a serious collision. Thankfully Google Maps found another route on country lanes.

Then I got onto the M4 heading home, but around 17.20 everything stopped between J14 and J13. Google said 8 minute delay, but we were were stationary for 4 hours. Word of mouth suggested a potential fatal accident less than half a mile ahead of us.

Saw 2 Ambulances and 3 Fire tenders so it was always going to be a long wait. Especially when the floodlights went on, presumably for forensic investigation which can only be done when the road is closed.

Then I realised that less than half a mile from the crash I was between 20/30 seconds from being caught up in it. eek

Latest media reports suggest it was a single vehicle collision involving a Nissan Pathfinder. What I finally got to drive past didn't seem to have a straight panel or any intact glass.

I really hope anyone involved is OK, but the poxy pick-up driver might benefit from some retro-flection.

Was coming back through Bramley (Surrey) High Street (Just before the Co-Op Petrol station Roundablout) at 10.45pm on Tues, and there was a huge truck parked , cones across both lanes and a mobile traffic light in the middle of the road on red !!!!

No diversion signs, a long cavalcade of cars having to do a 3 point turn and find another way home. Nothing seems to be listed on their site.

Anyone know what is happening ???

I did find what would be a great single-track road to cut across country , which is now a muddy track !!! smile , but it would be good to avoid this in future !

Cheers !

This part of the world is over crowded now I'm afraid. I used to like the days of blasting around cobham to Epsom through the Malden Rushett lights but not anymore.

I agree with you, too many people, traffic, compromises and infantilisation of the adult population.

This site seems to give some details (zoom in on the map to get to the local area) - https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/ro...

Bramley appears to be both Gas & Water related (started at the beginning of this week) based on clicking the tags listed in that area.

I know it's been a few months, but at the glacial speed the A3 roadworks are moving, just thought it worth popping this in for anybody else who drives your route.

The A3/M25 junction has been undergoing construction for a while and often results in closures/spilloffs to nearby roads. If you're going from rural Surrey to SW London, I'd recommend diverting via the M3 at Sunningdale, taking the A30 to go via Virginia Water, to then go through Chertsey, Weybridge, Hersham, Esher, and then get spat out onto the A3 near Tolworth.

I drive that route (from Staines to Wimbledon) every other week and whilst I do so at around 8pm, it's usually quiet, no major roadworks, and I've never seen a serious road closure. Well, once, when a swan wandered into the NSL road, got hit by a car, then waited until 40 minutes had passed before it waddled it's stupid long neck over to the nearby field, looking completely unharmed.
