Just checking that I’m not going mad, as a conversation with someone expressing surprise had me second guessing myself.

As I’m heading north past Oxshott and towards the avg 50 zone, Wembley Arch seems clear at night, topped with the red visibility light.

It is Wembley Stadium… right?

It’s dead ahead from there. Granted. But I’d be surprised if you could actually see it from there. A quick google tells me you can see it from Polesden Lacey … and that is way south. So maybe!

I'm sure I've seen it from the A3 too.

You can definitely see it from Epsom Downs which is a fair bit further away.

You can indeed, on a clear day. Spent many a morning in traffic jams from Farnham to Esher on the Hogs Back. In good weather, and breaks in the trees, you can indeed see the Arch.

Yes, on the stretch where the A3 reduces from 3 lanes to 2 lanes you're heading pretty much due north and the Wembley arch can be seen right in front of you.

Immediately before you bend left onto that section of A3 northbound there's a white tower visible on a small hill to the left. It's Ruxley Tower, former home of Rolling Stone guitarist Ronnie Wood.

Very interesting, thanks guys. Apropos Ridley Tower, I believe that I’ve often seen that and wondered what it is.

Yes, Ruxley Tower really stands out!

In the 80s it was occupied as offices. I was working for an insurance company and one of our brokers invited us over for an evening of darts, snooker, the swimming pool and refreshments. It was a good night out in a pretty special venue.
