DoT have announced total closure in both directions between Jct 10 Wisley/Guildford and Jct 11 Chertsey/Woking from 2100hrs on Friday March 15th to 0600hrs on Mon 18th.
Evidently it's to allow for a bridge demolition/reconstruction.
Having been in a long tailback a couple of weeks ago when they were diverting traffic off and over Jct 10 at 2330hrs I can only imagine it will be total chaos/gridlock on surrounding roads.
It will have a dramatic effect on those heading for Gatwick and Heathrow as well as other local destinations & events.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

[Thanks OP, I might have missed that until the day].

I saw that too - it will be chaotic!

And it's the first of a few sadly.

I drove along the M3 from Junction 4 to Junction 3 this afternoon and all the lanes are fully open again!

And the gantries said the M25 closure is now going to be next weekend (instead of this weekend).

Yep, something to avoid. We live approximately in the area just south of J9 and J10 so are well aware the impact this will have on local roads. We will stay at home for 72 hours or so next weekend!

I live a mile or so from J3 of the M3 so I'll be staying in next weekend too!

The diversion route seems to be the best it can be but still looks an absolute nightmare

I live in that area and I use both junctions to get to the M25 depending on the direction I want and my mood. I suspect passage through West Byfleet will be an absolute nightmare. There's a couple of spots that can cause potential gridlock if the junctions aren't kept clear.

I think I'll order a home delivery from Sainsbury's for this weekend rather than go to their store in Cobham on Saturday!

But maybe don't expect it to turn up on time!

I was planning a visit to the Volksworld show at Sandown Park this Saturday. I don't think I will bother now!

I can imagine the road running through Addlestone that's parallel to the section of the M25 being closed will be a car park all weekend!

Yes, it could be a disaster for that show and the classic motorcycle meet at Brooklands (admittedly that'll be a lot smaller!).

I'll be working that weekend just off jct.10, however when the A3 was shut around the same area 3 weeks ago, I too was working then and TBH the traffic wasn't an issue.

Sainsbury's home deliveries to me usually come from other places such as Sutton and Croydon for some reason, not from Cobham.

So 5 mins out from the closure for 57 hours. How bad a cluster fk on the local roads is this going to end up....?

ETA - one of my friends that live by J11 have gone away for the weekend, wise.... Well maybe, until they try and get home on Sunday.

The other weekend there was already roadworks on the road between West Byfleet and Weybrisge/Merc World. 25 min delay already at 10am on a Sunday.

What's wrong with using the A318 as a diversion or am I missing something?

I've been checking Google Maps traffic on and off today and the queues look like a non event, certainly not as bad as a weekday, so looks like people have listened to advice and avoided the area.

Drive to work fine, drove home fine, colleagues who live in the area have had no issues, typical media hype.
