Took 1hr 40mins to get from the Marlow slip road to the Handy Cross roundabout yesterday (Sunday).

Both lanes were going down to one and then there was just the one lane (instead of 4) going onto the roundabout.

They were resurfacing and as usual didnt look that busy.

I was fuming and my young children were not impressed.

You have been warned.

Some people were reversing and actually driving up the entry slip road to get off the A404. If someone would have been exiting the roundabout with a little bit of speed I hate to imagine what would have happened.

Had exactly the same problem on Saturday. I heard that the M40 was closed southbound too, not sure if that was true. I don't know what they're doing but I hope it's a spectacular improvement over the old roundabout given the amount of grief they're causing.

I went past later in the afternoon and they'd closed the entry slip at the top and the bottom.

968 - you should take the B481 from Caversham up to jc 5 or 6 if you need to go from Reading to the M40

Too many numpties on the road already, the secret is out

Followed someone doing 50/60 in the NSL today, who then braked sharply when approaching the pointless 30 limits.

Once he caught up with someone doing a steady 40, whatever the limit, he started doing that instead

On Sunday we were directed off the bypass and back up the slip to go through Marlow / Bourne End to relieve the congestion

We live in Purley on Thames so always go the A4074 home but the Mrs wanted to go and get some curtain poles from Dunelm so we were near the M4.

I guess I should blame her then.

Also be aware, they're gonna be doing this over the weekends for the next five weeks!

And will Handy Cross be any better when they've finished? Doubt it!
