I should be able to make this - but i really would prefer not to drive;

1. prob still recovering from my collar
2. I will do an emma if i did drive (no offence - bit i would see everyones exhaust fumes, then just travel with my navigator tom (tomtom)!)

You should be recovered by July Rich!

Who knows, you may even have a nice fast car by then too!

scratchchinWe may struggle to find hotel rooms in Cornwall in July (most private and European schools will have broken up by then), and a lot of hotels in 'resort' type areas are also refusing 1 night bookings during the summer months...

How long are you planning on being out of action Rich? I reckon you will be back to driving in no time, besides Nick has already stuck his name down! thumbup

you right I will talk to him

but then if he takes his misses (which is prob likely) and Lisa comes too, that means he will be 4 up. and will slow the CTR - even with 4 pre race dumps :P

Pre-Race dumps? rofl

Well I'm sure we could split the crew up and stick people into other cars, OR you could stop being lazy and get a fast car!

Roads wise i was looking at the A30 from Basingstoke to Exeter, looks like a nice run and runs parallel with the A303 for most of its length.

Bude? This quiet little hotel, does it have a decent car park and a bar?

Just read the charity thread - they have more than enough volunteers so I have decided to remove myself from the list in favour of this. ed2djh - let me know what your plans are, could still combine routes maybe, or hopefully see you Sat eve / Sunday for the drive back?

Ah, good swap!
This charity is very close to home for me, so unless they look for volunteers not to attend, i'll be heading down to Blandford Saturday morning. I'll probably be leving home about 08:00, and teh A30 looks a good route down - so if this co-incides with the Clotted Cream run, it would be fantastic to blat down with you all.

I'd love to join up with you on Saturday night down in Cornwall, but will need to take a call on that nearer the time.

I'll keep an eye on this thread for updates

The hotel at Bude Unfortunately the hotel a Bude only has parking out the front on quite road over looking the beach (nice view) but we could find a hotel out of Town that would have a big car park

I drive down from Hook to Honiton down the A303 regularly and it take a good 2 hours with your “foot down” so going down the A30 will take at least twice along. There are good country roads but it would be slow going during the day.

Just figured if we leave Saturday morning and do the A30 we could stop somewhere for lunch, enjoy the drive down on less busy roads, turn up early afternoon at wherever we're staying, make a good evening of it, and if on Sunday morning we fancy the quick way home we can always do the A303 on the way back...

Another option would be to leave early Saturday and do something on the way, like Cheddar Gorge or the Eden Project.
