unmarked police cars
Discussion
Spotted an unmarked 55 plate silver Skoda Octavia yesterday just north of Oxford services on the M40. It had just pulled someone over. It wasn't a vRS, it looked like a more mundane mid range spec.
Fortunately the 1.2 Polo hire car I was in wasn't ever going to trouble their speed gun. The 3 cylinder engine sounded quite good when it was being reved which, being a hire car, it was most of the time

Just out of curiousity....
Do Surrey still use the minty green Saab?
Used to luck around the Hindhead/A3/Hogsback area but haven't seen it around in a while.
I have been pulled by that mint green Saab 95 once and given a little slap on the wrist for not slowing down for roundabouts on the A217; I've see it quite often around the A217, A24 and M25 Jct7-8 area but only once this year. It's probably been in service for over 3 years now since the first time I spotted it, so at a guess I'd think that it has probably been retired from the Surrey fleet now as as the dark green Xtype.Do Surrey still use the minty green Saab?

About 7-8 year back I was driving out of Guildford towards Bramley when I noticed a car overtaking quite erratically behind me in my rear view mirror. As it came past myself and the car I was following I decided to select a lower gear and follow on a little jaunt, after about a mile at a fair old turn of speed the car which I had now identified as a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 estate indicated and pulled over abruptly at a bus stop, hesitantly I pulled up next to it and that was when my heart fell out through the bottom of my pants. The car I had just enjoyed a fast drive with was piloted by two police officers, who promptly told me with the odd profanity that I had better stop following them as the car was in fact a police vehicle. I can only assume that it was a car that was on test with the police force as I later found out that there is a place around that area which prepares and works on Surrey police vehicles. So it could be that some of the more obscure police cars that you see our roads are actually cars on test and not yet in operational service as the one I encountered wasn't using any blue lights.
I also recently I called in a firm arms incident and after an hour of waiting around for police to show up (apparently they were very busy) I gave up as the offender drove off. Upon walking back home I called up to say not to bother sending anyone, no sooner than I had terminated the call a whole gaggle of TP/ARV's drove past, 3 marked V70's, 1 marked BMW, 1 dark Blue/Black unmarked 5 series and an unmarked silver C class estate from what I can remember.
There is a silver Volvo V70 in Oxford.
It has a low profile LED lightbar and LED's in the front bumpers. Although it may be tempting to assume its a police car, its a RRV with South Central Ambulance.
Does anyone know if TVP are going to get anything interesting, apart from more bloody vectras. They could benifit from a few V70's.

Not read the whole thread so I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the black RS4 Estate. I didn't get the reg but it looked brand new. Went past me near the Madjeski stadium a couple of weeks ago at Mach 3 with blue lights behind the grill.
Wow =) Was it TVP, or just people messing about with their cars??JW911 said:

I also spotted that a few weeks back, maybe on the same occasion as was near J11.Cheers,
Jon
Caught a glimpse of something Japanesey and silvery/goldy colour with blues in the grill this morning coming north on the M3, between J3 and J4. About Toyota RAV4 size - would be surprised if this is the feds though?!
Anyone seen this?
Also a heads up - camera van parked by the British Raj (used to be Lord Nelson) between Datchet and Old Windsor this afternoon. Never seen one there before.

Nope only the vectra, which is due to be replaced by the insignia when its released and when we can get rid of the vectra off the bases. It has a low profile LED lightbar and LED's in the front bumpers. Although it may be tempting to assume its a police car, its a RRV with South Central Ambulance.
