Who do you guy recommend for insuring a Ginetta?

I had a quote a couple of years ago for £860 (which I thought was astoundingly cheap), but I can't find who it was from

I would have thought that £860 would be astoundingly expensive.

Try the Kit Car magazines for a specialist - or get in touch with MiniMax - he pays about a fiver!!

Cheers, I'll have a around in the mags.

Footman-James were at the Historic car show in Stoneleigh, and got my details for a quote. I should receive it later today.

Then again, a fiver sounds good

This was going back about three years, I was 21 with no (6 months) no-claims, for a new G4. I then went and bought the FTO, for which I pay about 1,500 a year (I'm never buying an import again).

I'll soon be 25, and should (fingers crossed, touching wood) have 4 years no cliams.

Minimax - any advice???

I insured with HIC (Herts Insurance consultants] for about £160 TPFT (6000 mile) or a little more FC. Kit cars and an age of 25+ = dirt cheap. Try Kit or classic car magazines for specialists and phone around.

Steve.

That name tings a bell - I think it was them that gave me the quote before. I will go and ask them directly!

Cheers!

Not sure what they think the new G4 is though. Is it a classic? or a specialist?

And it must be garaged if it's specialist - but I don't have one

Though I may ask them both about the FTO while I'm there...

Waiting on G-S to get me a quote, and asked about the FTO too as they seem quite nice people.

MSM won't give me a quote on the classic insurance, but may do on the kit car insurance (which I feel is a little odd, but I don't make the rules).

GS will insure the FTO and they will do it for less than a tiny quantity of 600 fine English (sorry, British) pounds a year (about a third of my current preimium!)

The G4 would cost me £1004 a year, with the same sort of cover. This is about what I expected as it's a more expensive car, and costs more to fix the body if it gets pranged... Maybe I will carry on looking at Ginettas for an everyday car after all...

Best way to keep prices down is by specifying limited mileage, especially useful if you dont use your Ginetta every day. Try CIC on 01206 792927 I'm just renewing for £197 fully comp for a 2 ltr G27 limited to 3000 miles which is ample for weekend use.
