G27 mk3 petrol tank removal

Hi all,
A request for information and advice.
I started getting lots of red brown dust-like rust in the petrol filter yesterday (first time ever but car has not been run for a few months. The dust clogs the filter and makes the engine run poorly and splutter (fuel starvation)after about 20miles until the filter is cleaned. This just started after filling up the tank with nice fresh expensive petrol.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of the problem short of removing the petrol tank which looks like a full body off exercise?
If anyone knows of an easy way of getting the tank out without a body off it would be useful to know too!
