RE: Ginetta G4
Discussion
Hi
I am new to this site, but it seems there are one or two people in the US looking for info. There is a US Ginetta club at www.nagor.com (North America Ginetta Owners Register). They could be worth contacting for information.
As to G12's I have been fortunate to own both a G12 and a G4 in the late 60's early 70's and am currently rebuilding a 12. The G12 was never meant as a street car as it was designed originally by Ivor as a pure racing car to contest the new Sports GT series in 1966.
I recall that someone did try to make one into a road car in the early 80's but it was not successful enough to be commercially viable.
As the 12 had a Hewland gearbox and usually a very highly stressed engine it did not make for a practical street car. I know because I had to use mine once or twice when my everyday car gave out.
There could be some mileage in converting to a Hyabusa engine with a suitable geartrain but even then there are many other ways that it is impractical.
The G4 is a nice car to use on the road and Ivor has done a great job of updating the original spec to make it suitable for the road.
As there is a renewed interest in both 4's and 12's in historic race circles, you may get your wishes to see the two go head to head, so keep your eyes on this sector of motor racing over the next year.
By the way I know that there are a few G4 and G12's in the US so maybe contact with Nagor will get you in touch with their racing activity.
As for Dare well they have recently moved but the good news is that they moved about 40 feet from their old premises.
Its good to see that there is still so much interest in these flying machines, 38years on and I still can't get them out of my system!

Hmmmm?.... Silicon implants and medical devices???
Hi everybody
My apologies, I must have had a senior moment, I can't think that I would need a silicon implant either, but I will check with my wife!
The correct address is www.nagor.org
I have checked the address this morning and it is correct.
I hope it gives some of the US guys the information they need.
Regards
Tony

been several reviews to date including Classic & Sportscar May issue ...about all you'd ever want to know about Ginetta G4s... Classics mag Spring issue gave it 4 out of 5 stars ...irresistible reading... outside the UK Austro Classic Apr/May issue gave it 4 out 4 stars (don't know what it said as its in Austrian!) - some mags haven't reviewed it, including Motor Sport (strange, seeing as the G4 has been involved in racing for so long and is still being built... oh well.)
Yup,
Ginetta G4 restoration in Sports Car International a US mag. A nice looking red car with a green roof. I would have liked to have seen some kind of a reference to the current cars that are available or the dealers in the us.
Any word on the possible G12 PH test?
I thought last spring or fall someone said a G4 was going to be in the Brit GT Champ?
