So Graham, now that Ted has set up a Ginetta forum what's the new news with Dare.

OK, first bit of news is that Dare have recently sold their first left hand drive G4 to Italy.

Rather more major news from our point of view is that they're currently working on a brand new car.

Not surprisingly they're not saying much at the moment, but naturally enough it's a sports car, though unlike Dare's previous cars this one is designed to be practical enough for everyday use like the G32 was.

If things go to plan it should be launched later this year.

Thanks for the news graham.

Did Mark Walklett mention if this new car would come as a kit or fully built only?

Also as I mentioned in a previous thread, Dare are selling their current site. Do you know where they will be moving to next?

No answers to either at the moment, but I'll see if I can find out.

Wow! Our very own Ginetta area. Graham, do you think you could do a new test of a G4 to update us on the improvements since your last test?
Can the G4 be ordered with air conditioning?
Do you think there will EVER be a comparison test between the Elise and G4?

HOORAY -at long last and not before time!

Question asked: Do you think there will EVER be a comparison test between the Elise and G4?
Where? In Autocar (aka Lotus Weekly)? NO CHANCE! I understand they had a new G4 for test about 2 months back... so far in the mag: NOWT!
Mind you have a peek in Trevor Pyman's new G4 book if you want to see how the Elise fares with a 4. (tee hee). And anyway, a G4 new and ready to go is £17,995... an Elise is £22,995 hum,... no contest.

Hi fizz,

Not sure if there have been any improvements since last time I drove the G4. Will check. Will also check re. the air con, but considering how basic the G4's interior is I doubt it.

Like dandarez, I too doubt there will be a decent comparison test between the G4 and the Elise because I think the magazines pretty much ignore Dare. Maybe the new car will get more attention.

Hello

yes the first G4 LHD is arrived to MILAN.
It's a 200bhp dry sump wide body spider.
green, magnolia leather.
will be fitted by us AIR CONDITIONING.
It's hard but we will try to get a special KIT for G4 as here it's TOO HOT!

We are waiting for other costumers and for sure i will get one for me!

NO CHANCE. G4 is much better than ELISE!

Cheers

I have a G4 here in the USA--if you know how to put in AC into the G4, let me know--then again, I have the removable hard top!

I actually put in an order for an Elise as a regular driver with the G4 as my fun car. Am I crazy?

...the new Dare?
Can't reveal too much except... a kit? Not a chance! Fully built only.

Here are a few more snippets regarding Dare developments.

Firstly, regarding the move mentioned elsewhere, this is pretty much a case of literally just going over the road, so no big changes there.

Secondly, Mark Walklett has provided a bit more info on the new car, namely that it will be a pure 2 seater, should be available in both open and closed forms and has a mid-mounted engine with 4 or 6 cylinders.

Think we'll have to wait until they're ready to launch it before we can get more detailed info, but good luck to them.

Nothing yet fizz. Don't expect much to happen quickly as these things can take ages. Been trying to test the Marcos TS500 for over 9 months now and the Grinnall Scorpion 4 for even longer due to development time. Still waiting for the new V8 Ginetta too

Half way through it now, and very informative. So far there's been no negitive sides of the G4 explictly stated, beyond the side and rear screens popping out on high speed spins. I wouldn't expect the book to say anything bad about the car it's all about though.

It's crammed full of piccies, and all in all, it's a really enjoyable read. I have most of the people at work asking me what car it is (I have a few pics of a G4 as my wallpaper); they all love it, and have asked to borrow the book once I've finished it.

I just hope none of them beat me to ordering a new G4... especially once Gran Turismo 4 comes out, and they can all buy a virtual one
