I saw your car the other day, Shadi. Looking good, nice colour! Who's doing the gearbox?

Thanks Geoff, the Gearbox is being done by Brian Hill at BGH.
Think he's the bees' knees when it comes to ford gearboxes.

Classic and sportscar will publish a small bit on the car soon in their 'lost & found' section.

Im looking for tyres to suit the steel wheels for road use, anyone know what type of tyre the G4 would have used in the 60s, and whether i can get something similar? Want it to look period correct

Something like Dunlop C41s probably, which amazingly you can still get, at £95 each!

i was told the c41 wil be too narrow for the 5.5J wheels

they used the 520x13. but these will be too narrow on a 5.5, and dont come in a wider size

they suggested a modern tyre... but dont think it will look right

Try a modern classic

The right sort of vintage and pedigree - and then the TB15's of course

Michelin XAS come in 155 or 165 or 185 x 13 and were produced from 1965

Michelin ZX comes in 640SR13 (roughly 185 x 13) and was fitted to Morgans in 1970

thanks, the Michelin xwx are around £300 per tyre !! The others are 200 each.

after bit more research ..the Avon CR6ZZ are apparently a very good tyre and have a period look. can get them from demon tweeks for 120 each
http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/Avon_CR6ZZ_Ra...

and i also found these road legal rally tyres.
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Motorsport/Wheels_Ty...

im only planning to run it on the steel wheels occasionally as it will wear minilites with r888s the rest of the time

I think those DT 'Rally' tyres might be a bit heavy and hard for your light, little car, the Avons would be more suitable.... IMO

5.5j steels trial fitted. Just about fit under the arches!
just cheap rubber on for now, still trying to source reasonably priced historic looking tyres.

Car will have compomotive minilites for racing

im not sure about the red wheel/belts, and i have to say i much prefer the look of the steel wheels to the minilites. aeroscreen shape not finalised yet.. but overall its looking good
