Back in 2009 I bought a brand new Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Titanium X which I sold as I wanted to move on to a Jaguar XF..
Now once again I need a good sized estate and have seen a Mondeo Titanium X Sport with the "Business pack" so it has Sat nav. Car was registered in December 2013 so 4 months old now and has 1700 miles on it.

Any opinions on this version would be appreciated. It has the 19 inch wheels which worry me slightly as I dont want a very hard ride quality. The car is quite some distance from home so its not easy to get to test drive it. Basically I would be buying it and travelling to collect it. I cant find another 2.2 Titanium X Sport locally to drive either...

Im not overly worried about the fuel consumption. Autotrader figures are 47MPG but they are always way off. If I can get 35 combined cycle I would be happy with that.

Only thing missing from the wish list is a sunroof but I can live without that..

Opinions and any advice please ?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I recently drove the same spec vehicle, but as an S-Max.

Good points - I think they look good, both inside and out....well the Mondeo does, S-max is a bit like a van, in my opinion. The engine is pretty strong and even in the S-max it was very nippy and the car seemed to handle well. The car was averaging about 35mpg, on a car that was 4 months old. And had mainly done town and a bit of dual carriageway driving.

Bad Point - this might not be relevant to you but in the S-max the seat were terrible....they look lovely and sporty but whether there is an issue with the S-max because you're more sat on the seats, than lower and in them, in a normal car. But I found them very uncomfortable and so did the wife.

However, my sister, who's car it is, loves the car and the seats?!

There are people discussing test driving this model further down in the Ford forum http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I've got the 2010 version with the 18" alloys and although it's firm,I don't find it a problem.
The 19" alloys on the newer one ride the same because Ford upped the profile on these later versions so still 235/40.

IMO these estates with all the extra bits on look great, are well specced,go well enough and return over 40mpg.
What's not to like?
Oh and the seats in mine are fine.

My '09 2.2 (the older, less powerful engine) returned 40mpg overall, driven hard.

It wasn't quick off the line as it struggled for traction a bit (3rd gear wheespin in the wet), but was lovely once up and running - loads of mid range.

I would imagine the newer 200bhp engine will only be better.
