It's also worth bearing in mind the gearbox MUST have a oil change regular, every 30-40k, this is absolutely critical and costs around £400 a time
Incorrect. It's £250 from a Ford dealer.

If you can get the job done and not just quoted, for £250 then that's a very very good price. When I purchased mine I found a receipt from Ford Leeds for £380 for the box oil change. Mine was approaching the mileage for replacement just before I sold it and I got quoted £350 from a local Ford dealer. Talkford members quoted me £300-£400 as their typical costs. Regardless of cost, it's absolutely essential if you want the box to remain trouble free.

Well I just had my second gearbox service at that price this April (the first one in 2014), so yeah confused

Agreed that it's essential though, and it's hardly a huge expense in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks! So any 2.0T TitX Sport made on or after that date will have 240bhp?
The facelift model are all 240bhp, the pre-facelift model are all 203bhp. Most of the 203s are 10 or 60 reg but I have seen some on 11 or even 61s which presumably where sat in dealers until they sold. I haven't seen a 240 on anything earlier than an 11 reg. The differences externally are quite noticeable:

Facelift: http://allcarcentral.com/Ford-Eng/Ford_Mondeo_Tita...
How can you tell what size engine they have. There is one on autotrader at the moment what looks like a facelift model but the advert says its 203hp.

The engines are very similar between the 203bhp and 240bhp, it's a remap basically and I think the exhaust manifold differs very slightly. Bluefin offer a remap on the 203bhp to 240bhp anyway which is perfectly safe.

Is this oil change only for the powershift boxes or is it for the manual boxes as well? I'm looking at the Tit X Sport also but in Diesel estate form.

Just the Powershift boxes. They behave badly without it.

Is there any difference with from or was the facelift purely external
Thanks

The facelift has a much nicer interior imo, slightly different clocks, different sat nav unit, different climate control unit, different seat heater/cooler switches hidden behind a sliding cover for the cup holder. I also found the mk4.5 better screwed together then the mk4, that might just be from car to car though.

I ended up buying one. Had it almost 3 years now and I'm still very happy with it. Not had any problems with it aside from a slightly weeping coolant hose which I replaced for about £15.

Excellent all-round car IMHO.
What sort of MPG do you get just brought one and to figure out if there is a problem

My old one returned around 30mpg on my daily commute which is all country lanes, 27mpg if I drove it a bit harder on the commute. Best I saw was 42mpg on a long, steady motorway trip. To say its a big heavy car, I thought they were reasonable figures tbh.

Sounds about right. I used to get 30mpg on a mixed motorway/town-with-traffic commute, and my newer commute is 6 miles of urban driving which averages about 25. On a motorway run I can get 40-42.

I have a 2016 2.0 ecoboost (my research is based off this model year).
The diesels come with the powershift duel clutch.
The petrols come with a 6 speed torque converter auto.

Alot of wrong information on the subject, even from the motoring press.
Bit of thread resurrection here, but does anyone know if this is correct info? I'm considering a 2010 (10 reg) 2.0 petrol 203ps one of these and I'd be far more confident buying if it's a TC auto, not a dual clutch. The advert for the car, of course, blanks the full reg so I can't look it up on ETIS.

A 2010 is the 3rd gen car, strong chance it has the dual clutch.

Someone hopefully will be along that can tell you for sure. smile

The quoted information above relates to the mk5 Mondeo and is correct.

The 2010 will be a mk4 and the 2.0 Ecoboost (203ps that you refer to, and later 240ps in the facelift TXSport) was only available with the Powershift dual-clutch auto.

I had mine for 7 years and other than it being a bit rough-and-ready compared to the VW DSG, it didn't give me any problems. I had the oil and filter changed on time.
