TVR t350c to Focus RS MK2?
Discussion
Hello all,
So am I mad? I love my British 2 seater Lotus Exige TVR Sagaris TVR t350c. But I have a little lad now and having spent a lot of my time working away from home in the RAF I have grown to see that time is the only think you can never get back, deep for a car forum I know.
Having just sold a mint t350c I been looking for something that we as a family can jump in and go to good wood, spa, shows and a focus RS seems to. Each ticking all the boxes.
The TVR was a premature dona car it need lots of time and we'll until he go's to school that's not an option.
plus things like no ABS, traction control, Airbag, no grip in the wet, plus having seen how it was wired up in the battery bay no thanks.
Please any one done any thing like this? Any regrets?

Not sold a TVR to get my mk2 Focus RS, but I do have a family.
The kids love the RS with all the noise and drama that comes with it (I have an aftermarket exhaust fitted).
Obviously the Focus is 5 star NCAP rated, so there is piece of mind too with lots of airbags adding to the weight lol
Oh and parent and child parking is great when you roll up and get lots of looks

Thanks lads, I didn't know about the 5 star rating. Looking for the right car now a keeper. The mountune kits a must as my plate says 350. My little lad opens the garage and says "TVR gone brummie brummmm" my Hart sinks.
Looking for a car that's got the black seats, white or blue. Under 25k miles.

Shame about the TVR , I imagine it was superb.
The RS though is a very capable car. In fact the best car I have ever owned. I did everything from the dump run to track days in mine and yes the Mountune upgrade really improves the car, I noticed that the diff hooked up a lot better with the extra power. I still miss it and revisit the classifieds now and again.
FocusRSoc.com is a great site for info and advice.
Low mileage Lux 2 with leather, BT/USB and you will not lose any money either.
If you are in the London area Rates Ford in Essex are recommended for servicing. Hope all goes well.

Hi...
I had a TVR T350C a few years back, swordfish colour with power cans, sagaris spoiler, loved it to bits.
I'm like you, love my 2 seater NA sports cars (esp V8s), ended up moving to a 2001 V8 Esprit and then SLK 55 AMG (5.4 V8).
I traded in the AMG for a FW Focus RS 18 months ago, immaculate (all of them are, passionate owners) which already had the Revo4+ upgrade. I loved the car but it was a money pit, had to spend 600 quid upgrading the oil breather to forged and then all 5 ringlands cracked. I ended up getting it fully forged at SCC which most owners are advised to do if they go above 400bhp. As expected the clutch went next, purchased an organic one from Jam Sport.
I traded in the RS a few weeks ago for a 2 owner Aston V8 Vantage with the Prodrive performance upgrade (425bhp), sounds like thunder.
The RS would eat my V8 Vantage for breakfast, it's a brutal car with the R4+ upgrade and clutch, fastest thing I have owned.
Would I have traded my TVR T350C in for a RS now knowing what I know? That's a good question.... The TVR T350C had something about it, can't put my finger on it but it was really cool to own and be seen in. The sound from that exhaust, linear power delivery and interior was fantastic. However, always worried about the thing breaking down annoyed me (and I had a few breakdowns during my ownership) but saying that, the RS cost me a fortune in 18 months. On the other hand, the RS was cool, kids loved it, power delivery was brutal, handling felt like it was 4x4 and I managed to get 46mpg from Edinburgh to London (I get 8mpg in my Aston).
If you were trading in for a fairly upgraded RS or thinking about throwing money to get up to (or above) 400BHP I would say you go for it.... If you are trading for a standard or 350 then I would say you will miss that power. I always struggled to get the power down in 1st and 2nd with my RS and I would say a rear wheel drive 2 seater like the T350C or AMG would be off, however, the RS would catch it up and vanish once the power was down.
Not sure if this helped you but it brought back some nice memories for me on the T350C and my RS, miss both of them!
Cheers
