I have a 2013 ST3 which ive owned for 3 years. I do around 20,000 a year and am averaging 27.2 mpg. The car is revo stage 1 with revo intake etc and im not overly easy on the throttle. Its my daily and it will do for another couple of years

My Mondeo with the same engine will do just over 40mpg on a long run at 70mph, so I don't see why the lighter Focus couldn't achieve or better that. It's 2018, engines with a bit of power aren't (and shouldn't) be stupidly thirsty any more.

I guess a different gearbox and different mapping makes a significant difference. From what I understand the Mondeo is designed to be more refined than the Focus.

If I thought 40mpg was achievable then I'd go for one, but from posts on here I can't see it being realistic. I am holding out hope that the Mk4 Focus ST will be a little more frugal though, so fingers crossed... smile

I know you discounted the diesel ST but they are a good bet, tuning can take you from 185 to 250-270 and you can still get 40+ MPG. I have the petrol fitted with a mountune MP275 and a stage 2 ST diesel keeps up with it all the way to 100. The diesel also comes with option of a power shift gearbox which is fantastic. Had I known the tuning capability I would have bought one instead of the petrol.

I use mine as a daily, doing 300 miles a week. fuel consumption is relatively less than my old mazda 2.5. you can easily get 31mpg on a journey if you drive it conservatively

I get 27 mpg, pretty much every time I reset.
