Leaking focus mk1

My shed focus this morning had a fair sized puddle in the passenger footwell, window was fully up so its not coming in there. Looking around under the bonnet I can't see anything obvious has happened to make it start doing that. There is some water near the footwell air vents so I can only assume it's coming from there somewhere and dripping down on the carpet, does anyone have any experience or pointers at all ?

99% sure it will be the pollen filter cover incorrectly refitted.

No way. It’s a shed. Apart from an oil change last year and new gas struts for tailgate it’s not had anything spent on it. Nor do I intend to start.

It's most likely to be the pollen filter as I've heard this a lot on the rs forums as a common cause of water in the footwear.

Common issue on the focus mk1 had this on my old focus. There is a seal that rots were the pollen filter cover meets the windscreen. I removed the cover and removed the old seal and applied a thick bead of sealant where the filter cover meets the windscreen. Also from memory ford do an updated pollen filter cover that directs water away from the pollen filter. You will need to change the pollen filter otherwise your car will smell very unpleasant.

id look at the pollen filter first

you can un hook the glove box and see a bit behind the dash , take a good look with a torch and see if you can see where its coming in , ours seems to get drips sometimes from the spout where a/c condensation drips into the engine bay

I have reseated the pollen filter and run a bead of black mastic along the bottom of the screen between the screen and the plastic panel, it's raining today here and it seems that no more has come in as yet, thanks all

Got home last night and noticed a drip in the passenger footwell of my shed Focus. Luckily, I have plastic/rubbery floor mats so nothing has soaked into the carpet.

I'm guessing it could well be the issue noted in this thread with the pollen filter area leaking. We had some really heavy rain yesterday.

Epic thread resurrection there. Sold the focus just after the leak. Things started going wrong. Clutch, gearbox leak, oil leak.

We did buy another though

No it was getting a bit tired. Great cars though, bought a newer titanium model.

I took a quick look at the pollen filter cover on my car. No wonder it's leaking. Some ham fisted plonker has literally stuffed it back on incorrectly.

One side where a rubbery seal is is stuffed under where it should be. The bit if trim that meets the windscreen is away from the windscreen. And the bit near the screw looks like it's been forced in.

Will attempt to sort it when I'm back off my holiday. Idiots.
