Just got myself a little puma .

Compared to my old clio cup the brakes seem crap , there doesn't seem to be any feel as to how much pressure i'm applying , so what pads/discs are worth sticking on ?

Also i've buggered up the stock stereo , it wanted a code so i stuck in the one in the radio manual and it locked the stereo so any help how to fi it or what t replace it with .

Puma brakes are shocking as standard, what I'd recommend is to fit the 280mm set up from a Fiesta ST150 & add Mintex 1144 pads on standard discs this'll transform the braking, its what I use on my track puma and cost me £100 all in

Google will be your friend, there's a post on Puma people that can get you a code

Early Puma brake discs are, I understand, 240mm - and not great. These changed to 260mm (like on mine) and I have no issues with stopping quickly with those. 280mm for the Fiesta as mentioned are a straight bolt-on, too, I believe. Might be worth renewing Brake Fluid if you're not sure when it was last done - it should be changed every two years, and could affect the feel through the Brake Pedal.

Projectpuma is another great forum with loads of helpful members - I've found it invaluable.

Good luck with the car!

I had an early model and just swapped to the later Puma brakes, braided hoses and decent fluid with Mintex 1144 pads, they fit under the standard propeller wheels with no modifications.

As mentioned above there are other options out there but I never found myself needing more brakes on some very spirited cross country drives, I didn't track the car though.

The above site gives out the stereo codes for nowt. I’ve used it many times and it’s been perfect for me.
One thing to remember is if you fudge up the code entering procedure 3 times you need to leave the stereo unit on for 30mins to allow the next code entry.

I got a used stereo removed the original only to find that had previously been changed so the code in the manual was the wrong one.

I think I'll do the cambelt and the brakes can wait until the new year.

All you need to do is enter the m serial number and the site gives the 4 digit code to operate the unit again. Takes 5 mins at most to do.
