First topic on PH (better later than never), so thought I’d make it count. I’m trying to find out what happened to the 2004 Ford Fiesta RS concept, and I'm keen to talk to people who worked at TeamRS at the time. I'd like to know how close the car came to production, what the final specs were and what happened to the show car - which I'm hoping wasn't tossed in bin! Could be the start of a (lengthy) project car build. Can anyone shed some light?

As far as I recall this was a road-going teaser of the forthcoming Fiesta S1600 rally car, the very last motorsport project to come from Boreham before it was closed. I was on the design team for the site’s last year of operation:

The project was later handed over to M-Sport.

There’s a very short summary of the rally car in the last pages of Graham Robson’s “Ford At Boreham” book. It was a tuned, modified 1600 Zetec engine mated to a Hewland 6-speed sequential gearbox and was judged to be considerably quicker than the Puma S1600 it replaced.

As for the concept car? Probably hidden away in Ford’s Heritage Collection, or crushed…
