Anyone know what tyres a 2003 2.0 Zetec Focus (16"
came with from the factory. I bought mine as a year old Ford Direct car from a main dealer and i'm ready to change my tyres. Anyone got any suggestions for a comprimise between economy/long mileage (I'm tight) and good road holding (Priority).
Also, anyone had a problem with the trim between the windscreen and bonnet coming adrift. This is my second Focus and they've both done it. Spoke to ford main dealer and he said it will let water into passenger footwell but isn't covered by warrenty. This panel has to be removed at service to access the pollen filter so surely if it doesn't go back on again it's their fault.

Absolute rubbish. It's a common problem with all mk1 Focii, and every dealer I know will sort it out during service. I've has the passenger footbath problem in both the RS and my gf's 1.6 and both times the carpet was dried out and the trim re-sealed by the dealer.
As for tyres, some came with Firestones (don't even bother) and others came with Conti's - these are pretty good as an OEM tyre, the 1.6 has Conti EcoContact all round and i can't fault them.

Absolute rubbish. It's a common problem with all mk1 Focii, and every dealer I know will sort it out during service. I've has the passenger footbath problem in both the RS and my gf's 1.6 and both times the carpet was dried out and the trim re-sealed by the dealer.

There has been a TSB released about the scuttle panel problem (design fault) - but don't know number.
The new part costs less than £2 however.

Focus 2.0 comes as standard with P6000's, but that's because they're cheap, not for any good reason. Depends what you're after, and how many miles you do:-
Low miles &/or good handling - Eagle F1 GSD-3. Not much more expensive than P6000's, superb wet- and dry-grip, progressive, good at aquaplaning. But don't last as long as some.
Conti EcoContact - not used, but Conti have a good rep, albeit expensive.
Bridgestone RE720 - should last longer than F1's, but not QUITE as good in wet (still miles better than P6000's).
Best bet would be to try and look-up a recent AutoExpress or Evo tyre test. Last evo one (2002) for performance tyres put F1 GSD-3's top, closely followed by ContiSports (on my Focus on 17"s, and they're fantastic!). AutoExpress tests tend to go for more mainstream tyres.
