I keep pinching the old dears Puma to go B-road hacking , got round the "its a gurly coupé" bit buy wearing my crash helmet seriously good fun , damp roundabouts and a bit of left foot can bring the back out but they are very controlable

The mk4 Fester floorpan has created some bloody fun little cars , including the Ka , i had a courtesy Ka (ok stop laughing at the back) it had motercare blue fake leather steering wheel handbrake and gear knob with a diamond in the top of it , felt a bit camp driving that mind but a sportka i reckon will be a right laugh

And if there is any spelling mistakes is because i havent got me goggles on as im supposed to be cleaning the thunderace , but ive decideed to slack off

I saw a bloke driving a SportKa yesterday, shades on, trying to look cool and what it said to me was :

If you are male, do not buy this car. There is no way it is enough fun to justify it.

I do not have the words to describe what this guy looked like yesterday without being rude, but it definately wasn't the look he was trying to portray, all IMO of course, no doubt I'm not the only one of this opinion though.

Do you mean a SportKa (normal Ka with big arches etc.) or a StreetKa (mincing convertible thing)?

I think it had a fixed head, makes no odds, a Ka is a Ka !!!

Qualifying for a Ka means you should be between 17 and 18, over 60 or a female

Damn!

Well I'm older than 18... so that makes me either approaching a pensionable age or I've turned into a lass overnight! Oh well...

It was just a facetious remark and in heindsight, my opinion is my opinion and I shouldn't impose it.

By all means, the Sporty Ka range is good fun, and as long as you are having fun, who cares ?

Don't worry - no offence taken!
I'd never actually buy one... (I'm leasing it for 6 months)

I've got one as my daily driver and it is fantastic. I traded a C2 VTR in for it and can say that it is better in almost every respect. Economy and brakes are a bit crap, but I can live with that.

I get the 'Its a girlie car' etc etc...but couldn't care less...its SUCH a laugh to drive, just don't expect it to be fast. My mates have ALL changed their minds after they drove it, so give one a try.

The sportka's engine isn't the same design as the item found in previous Ka's

The old powerunit was the kent/valencia/hcs cross flow OHV engine, where as the current unit is a duratec rocam OHC item.

still, on the whole, it's not been a bad lump to date.

Ugh why do so many people still belive this!? When the SportKa came out in 2003 (or so) they then changed the engine in the standard Ka from the "kent" engine to the Duratec 1.3l! Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the same engine as the SportKa!!

That's what I was led to believe too... the chap who told me this ought to know too, seeing as he works at Dunton

I never did re-post when I got my SportKA... but it's bloody good fun! Not something I could live with on a permanent basis (this'll be replaced in November), too noisy on the motorway... BUT brilliant on B-roads. It likes abuse!
Not very economical though - I'm averaging 28mpg but hey-ho!

Edited by pAntscat as he cannot spell properly.
