This is the second car I've run, and both developed the same fault at the same mileage.

Won't start and glowpug warning light flashes.

Ford did a five minute 'reset' last time. Nor covered under warranty, deemed to be an 'adjustment', but cost about £65.

Anybody else had this problem..?

The ex had problems with her's and they reprogrammed the injectors and updated the software , so disconnecting the battery for 5 mins is an adjustment and chargeable ? theiving chimps .

they should have checked for faults with the WDS .

funny you say that, my Focus TDCI (54 plate) has done exactly that! RAC found the fault code that could be causing it (P2623) Injectgor Ctrl pressure regulator circ/open. the car could be made to start but would then cut out. but mostly refused to start. the glow plug light kept on flashing while doing 75mph on the motorway! and suddenly the car dies.. not a nice feeling!

I've got a 53 plate 1.8TDCi 115 Focus that kept cutting out at various speeds. It would lose power, the glow plugs would flash and it would then refuse to restart for about 10 minutes. It did it for 1 in 10 journeys.

A local diesel specialist found a Cam position sensor fault which kept cutting the fuel. It's quite common (and frustrating) but now appears to work ok.

Turned out to be the crank sensor, or so they say. Fixed today...err, yesterday.

Also fixed the reverse light/parking sensor switch.

Forgot to mention the central locking, U/S satnav and low pressure screenwashers (and no water to the rear screen washer..)

Ho hum....

No, haven't had time to get it in...and forgot this time. Doh..

It's really gone to the back of my mind because it's duff, compared to the Tomtom.

Was nice as a backup unit but, if the dealer has to send it back to the factory, I lose the aircon controls with it...!

Will get it in to check the two items you suggested before warranty expires.

My 80k mile 130 was pretty reliable until recently (excluding broken rear subframe - common) when the turbo inlet hose split. Made a racket but still went. £28 for a new rubber hose. I thought these were cheap to maintain! Ford wanted £65 to investigate, then labour/parts on top. Bet it would have needed a new turbo if they'd been given the chance.

Don't know, done under warranty. But I do know that the motor factors stock them so don't pay Ford prices.

well, my car has just come back with a new fuel pump fitted.. its taken then 4days to sort out the problem and fix it.

i'm suprised that the fuel pump has failed considering the car has only done 27K! the question is why would it fail?

There was an issue with those a year or two ago, involving another component, but I can't remember what it was.

I'll try to dig it out..

that would be great, FYI my car is a 1.8TDCI 2004 model year -not the new shape.

Ahh...I believe it was only the 2 litre TDci that was affected.

Still can't find it, though...I'll be back

Just did a we search to see if anything was cropping up regularly. Only comments I can find are 'EGR valve- very very well known fault.' Apparently it clogs and causes hesitancy, slight drop in mpg and smoke. £60 on ebay for a new one.

On the mondeo the injectors loose the plot and need to be reprogrammed into the system , i had a fuel pump die on mine but i put that down to the tuning box i had on the car , focus hp pumps some times die around the 60k mark for no reason.

Programming. I daren't drive the thing now! Bring back petrol motors and carbs. I understood those......

That's what they said about my previous Mondeo. Sixty quid, I believe...an 'adjustment' not covered by warranty....
