racing a 2lt mondeo

help needed for wiring up a 1997 2lt zetec mondeo.
i have totally stripped the car,it has no injection system at all,it has been replaced by a home made stainless steel inlet manifold,and has a twin choke weber fitted.Friends that i know have been racing these cars with a simple wiring loom from a mk3 fiesta,but they seem to get hot quick and are prone for doing head gaskets.I am sure the problem is coming from this ignition system..we run the crank sensor the coil pack into a small brain with a advance retard pipe going from the brain to the carb.
The car will eventually go onto a rolling road,but i want to make sure that the system i am using is right before it go's on it..i can provide photos if needed..

Is that some sort of aftermarket ignition setup?

If you're suffering from overheating / HGF type problems I'd be looking for problems in the cooling system rather than the ignition.
