See you there........ Andrew

I got an email from the TVRCC Events Coordinator. They're having a 'Blue' theme this year and he'd seen a small picture of my Tamora in Sprint a couple of months ago. (There's one this month as well in the Dealer News section!)
I was planning on going anyway as I live relatively close the NEC so thought I may as well put my car on the stand.
Cheers......... Andrew

Yeah, quite looking forward to it. A bit worried about some scroat scratching it but I guess that can happen anywhere, and it's not as busy as the Motor Show so should be OK.
Cheers........... Andrew

Andrew - I'd very strongly advise that you confirm with them that the car will be locked or, at the very least, punters will not be allowed to sit in your car.
At the 1998 Birmingham Motorshow the driver's seat of the Viper on the Chrysler stand had to be replaced after the 1st day as it simply wore out!

Jon, thanks for the advice. I was planning on keeping it locked. I guess I'll see what the owners of the other cars on the stand are doing? If I remember rightly they were all locked on the TVRCC Stand last year?
Cheers........ Andrew

Andrew it may also be worth checking with them who is going to do the required work for storing a car indoors. That being it has to have a tiny amount of fuel, if any at all and the battery should be disconnected.

This certaintly used to be the case so its perhaps worth a phone call.

I have manned the TVRCC stand in the past at NEC shows, and we always made great efforts to ensure that the cars were not abused. In about a dozen days of stand manning, I don't recall any cars being damaged.

They were always locked and only ever opened, bonnet or doors with the owner being present.

However in response to plotloss, I don't recall any batteries being disconnected, wouldn't this cause a problem with modern TVRs with doorlocks and opening doors?

The club stands is always manned and generally the public realise that these cars are owned by someone.

Surely a dealer will be present with new cars anyway, so if someone wants to sit in it, send them over there.

A stack of handouts (TVR POstcards) is enough to keep the kids happy

Davidy,

I used to be the case with all cars that we sent to all the shows all over the UK that they had to have the batteries disconnected. I remember this being the case because it used to cause havoc with the A8's 'brains'.

However, the distinction may be that these cars were open for the public to sit in and may not apply to locked vehicles.

David - I wasn't for one minute implying that you wouldn't look after the cars. With hindsight I can see that my posting might be open to misinterpretation, and I do apologise for that!

Jon

plotloss I think that you are correct for 'proper' motor shows, but it certainly hasn't been the case with any of the 'classic' shows and the Sportcar Show is only a rebadged Classic Car Show

Interesting that no one on this thread has yet asked what a Sprot Car is? (re-read the thread title!!!)

And I agree with you with A8s and their brains, but thats another story.

JonRB, I never read any offence into your email, I have been TVRCC member for 12 years now, but I'm not involved much with current events, young family....
