I thought the Tuscan R was a kind of replacement for the Cerbera (4 seats, hard top)...

(PS, Had all of the above on my 2 cerbs...so its not a rumour or bad mouthing it is my experience)

Old school supercar builder TVR is to leap into the 21st century by developing an active suspension system. Spurred on by the performance of cars such as the Mercedes SL55 AMG, which blends a sensational ride with huge grip, the Blackpool outfit's boss Peter Wheeler has decided it's time to investigate the hi-tech set-up, we can reveal.

However, the system's complexities mean TVR fans shouldn't expect to see it soon. The technology is unlikely to debut before the next generation of cars arrives in three years.

The last UK firm to trial active suspension was Lotus, which tested it on an Esprit a decade ago. The set-up proved too expensive and extreme for everyday use, and road-going versions were never built.

Just in case anyone missed it...

Picked up new Tamora 2 weeks ago and there are some very interesting options on the Trip computer menu such as "Sports" which the manual refers to as for "Future Use" and implies they are suspension related by the terminology used. The trip computer gives "Access Denied" if you try to access one of these options

Just been speaking to TVR about active suspension. No truth in the story at all.

Thank God for that. Thought I'd been beamed into another dimension there for a moment (either that or Peter Wheeler had).

My Chim goes for its Nitrons to be fitted today, and a Zertec headlight conversion. Can't wait for it to come back!

Of course there's no truth in the rumour. Good grief, the amount of money - and boffins - required to make active suspension work is astounding. Active anti-roll bars could just be viable after some serious investment and a full technical partner, or perhaps hydraulic pushrods (though their only pushrod car is the Cerbera 12, of course), but fully active suspension? No chance, not even if it was April 1st.

They can't even afford to put airbags in the cars, so I think active suspension is a bit pie in the sky. I'm not being anti-TVR, it's just common sense.
