Stop it! bow

Ive only just got my Tamora at the beginning of the year but as soon as I can, I fancy adding a TVR of this era or even earlier.

Stunning! Simply stunning!

Interior just seems as the same as i last sat in there some 40 years ago..Still has the parking brake handle lock and steering wheel.
Kick plates are different though on the sill.
Who ever did the re-uphoster did a good job.

Something that came up on my Facebook memories the other day, was a so similar Series 2 Vixen that had been forgotten like in my
ownership since 1980..

Registration is LNK 10H. Colour looks like Maroon .

Wow! Just done a DVLA check on it and it is in Black and was last issued with a V5c in April 2023. Tax was due (historic??) April.
So it looks as if it is still either on the road or recently purchased..

Be so good if the owner was to comment on here.

And that's without Stop/Start...!
Are the engine/box/starter all from the same donor vehicle, Keith? Something seems rather wrong there...

Well finally got new ring gear and startor motor fitted what a job with not
Having a ramp, not nice job laid on your back, I think I found the cause of so must damage to old ringear, two of the cluch cover bolts were slightly to long and had pushed the ring gear slightly out of true , so over a period of time caused the wear only found when taking old ring off, thread for cover goes right through flywheel to ringear, you live and learn, never noticed this when rebuild car two years ago surprised it lasted as long as it did,

Anyone out there up on electrics ,my old Bosch startor motor had to small leads one for starter selnoid and one for ignition live apparently ‘this one is for coil ballast resistor , the new starter has only one lead to the selnoid, when I tried to start car starter turned over but car wouldn’t start so I connected the ballast resister wire up to an ignition live car started and runs fine, is there anyone out there can tell me if that’s ok to do?

Bit confused ,but as i have said elsewhere if you have a Ballast resistor Coil then it will overheat with 12 volts plus continue going through it and will make the Vixen misfire.
Posted on here for someone with more knowledge on here to comment.

Panic over apparently the 2.8 and 2.9 ford colone v6 engines don’t have ballast resistor coils they are fitted with the formoco electronic ignition system as is mine , so at some point in this engines life someone as fitted the wrong starter motor, anyway the new starter and ringear are working well now and so much quieter

Must have taken some effort to remove flywheel in situ like you described ,but good scene overall in 2 years use .Hope that the replacement Starter is compatable with the flywheel so you don`t get to do it again..
It has enabled this thread to continue a bit more as well..

As i have mentioned before it would be nice for anyone to forward things about existing rebuilding their Vixen..Surely must be a few in progress at present..
Searching YouTube their are some beauts on the Hillclimb & Sprint scene and Production class Historic Sports Cars
