Le Mans routes

I got my Le Mans tickets today!!!!!
I'm going over on the mid day Weymouth - Cherbourg ferry on wednesady 12th. Are there any other Tivvers or pistonheaders going on the same boat?
If so come and say hello, I'll be in the Blue 400se with the roof DOWN and the PH baseball cap!

Can anyone recommend a good route to Le mans from Cherbourg? I'd rather not just motorway blast it all the way. Some nice bendy roads, the odd Bistro on the way will do nicely. (Hell, don't care if I don't get there till Friday!)
Suggestions please?

Can one get a Weymouth-Cherbourg ferry these days? I thought the only route was to St Malo via the Channel Islands?

Andy, not really windy roads but we generally do something like the following - they may be in the wrong order I tend to just drive it now without looking at signs too much!
Cherbourg -> Caen -> Alencon -> LeMans.

You could come off towards St.Lo as some of those roads are pretty good but that could mean lots of zig-zagging to get where you need to be.
If I get a chance over the weekend I'll take a look at the map for you.

I hope so, I've bought the ticket! It's a fast thingy.
