On reflection it should have been something like "only the mechanical bits" or "everything bar the shell", but it seemed amusing (to me) at the time smilepaperbag

Please note everyone, a prominent Griff owner has just admitted (in public) that he'd be impressed by a Chimaera biggrin
Wasn't he implying to be impressed by only the engine hehe?
Absolutely ONLY the engine .... rolleyes

Though on the plus side from sitting inside the car enjoying the engine I wouldn't be aware I was sitting in a chim. so it wouldn't be that bad

Back in your cage chilli laugh
You would know as soon as you heard the golf clubs rattling in the boot.

The Golf club retort is now seriously old hat. We do not play golf. We do not carry Golf clubs in our HUGE but beautifully proportioned boots (the one we easily stow our roofs in). We do however, take some pleasure in watching Griffs growing smaller in our rear view mirrors. It is unclear if this is a lack of power in the engine department or a lack of driving ability (bugger I've just gone from second to fith). No probs, because, like all family's, we have concern for our tard cousins wink

Best R, Chilli wink

So which track are we booking for the test, Peter?
Now you have a benchmark in my car, in relation to your old 4.6, it will be interesting to see how many laps it takes with you in the 5.5 to lap me. My money is on single figures.

Hope you don't mind me taking the thread a little off track while we wait for the next installment...

Have you had any issues with backfire through the induction when starting the engine with that setup ? When I switched to MS I killed two CF plenums, I've now gone back to the metal one. It was mitigated with a change to the MS start parameters but still happens from time to time. If you haven't fireds it up yet - be careful. I can provide details of the parameters to check if needed.

Blimey!

Only started it and ran for a few minutes as one of the spark drivers had failed.

Stripped out the engine loom and the MS, new loom being delivered shortly and upgraded MS.

Please send me those perameters and I can give them to Shaun the mapper who will do the tweaking.

I certainly dont want to break the plenum!!!!!!!!!!!!

What metal plenum have you gone back to, single?

He only has a SS intake tube, the plenum is still CF.

I'll need to fire up my ancient laptop later tonight to get the name of the parameter and the 'safe' values but it relates to how many 'sections' of the trigger wheel are monitored to get the timing sync before it fires the spark. Think the safe level was above 12, but will check. It was worse when the battery was low and was struggling to turn it over. I also fitted a geared starter to help the situation (less voltage drop, more torque).

If you're referring to Shaun at V8D then he and Colin at TVRSSW diagnosed the issue on mine so should know about it. Worth checking though.

Yes, I went back to single plenum unfortunately. Car is now running rich due to lack of air. I haven't got myself in the mental position to fork out on another bloody CF plenum yet.
