Yes It is that Shaun!

Car seemed to turn over fine and the battery is a little small imo, we will see what the future holds.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I'll need to fire up my ancient laptop later tonight to get the name of the parameter and the 'safe' values but it relates to how many 'sections' of the trigger wheel are monitored to get the timing sync before it fires the spark. Think the safe level was above 12, but will check. It was worse when the battery was low and was struggling to turn it over. I also fitted a geared starter to help the situation (less voltage drop, more torque).

If you're referring to Shaun at V8D then he and Colin at TVRSSW diagnosed the issue on mine so should know about it. Worth checking though.

Yes, I went back to single plenum unfortunately. Car is now running rich due to lack of air. I haven't got myself in the mental position to fork out on another bloody CF plenum yet.
Probably the skip pulses in ign settings scratchchin from what your saying this may be a MS code fault i.e how it sync's up during cranking or un-timed spark etc and may of been sorted in the many firmware upgrades since nerd

Skip pulses - that's the one. I'll see if there are release notes for the latest upgrades. If it's been sorted, I'll be very happy. So will ACT as they'll be getting more of my hard earned.

Can't find full release notes anywhere. Just a list of some changes on the extraefi site but no reference to cranking settings

To be honest if its a sync issue (I doubt it) weather its on 4 or 12 it don't make much difference cranking wise so its whatever works I suppose wink

Takes longer to start - not a major issue I grant you. However, what do you mean you don't think it's a sync issue ? Could it be another issue that this is masking ? Now you've got me worried smile

Hope you don't mind me taking the thread a little off track while we wait for the next installment...

Have you had any issues with backfire through the induction when starting the engine with that setup ? When I switched to MS I killed two CF plenums, I've now gone back to the metal one. It was mitigated with a change to the MS start parameters but still happens from time to time. If you haven't fireds it up yet - be careful. I can provide details of the parameters to check if needed.
Blimey!

Only started it and ran for a few minutes as one of the spark drivers had failed.

Stripped out the engine loom and the MS, new loom being delivered shortly and upgraded MS.

Please send me those perameters and I can give them to Shaun the mapper who will do the tweaking.

I certainly dont want to break the plenum!!!!!!!!!!!!

What metal plenum have you gone back to, single?
Peter, a friend of mine had the same problem with an engine he built himself... he made a sort of safetyvalve that would blow first instead of the plenum. He had an alu plenum he built himself and when that blew up and cracked he made the valve... I think it was just a plate of tufnel and a seal on the back of the plenum
