You could play safe - and have a grey Boxster. Which will prove your interest in cars is as deep as fake tan . . . .

After nearly six months I still get wide-eyed looks/smiles/'Wow's/lovely colour/lovely shape and the usual 'is it reliable?'/'bet it drinks a lot of fuel'. Fairly standard, I still look starry-eyed when a Tuscan/Cerbera screams past me in London Town (or anywhere else for that matter) . . .I "only" have a 4 litre Chimaera . . . sob.

If you tell people you have no problems, they look at you with suspicion . . .

Now I just reply 'Of course I have, its a TVR!'

Now I reply - course not, why should I?

If they reply 'well its a TVR' I just ask where they've been for the last 10 years.

OK, might not be true, but you've got to start positive marketing somewhere. Keeps the residuals up if nothing else

If they think they are unreliable don't disappoint them! I think most people don't buy TVR's for that very reason. We'd like to keep a bit of exclusivitiy wouldn't we?
Imagine if they got too popular you'd never stop waving - I don't know how Boxster drivers manage on the M25
Nah - if people want to believe them unreliable then good, keeps us all in a rather special club I think.

Well as long as they "think" that All TVRs are unreliable, the Numpties will stick to more mundane forms of transport and continue to be jealous.

My experience of TVR virgins is:

Virgin: "Wow, this looks great, oh, was that meant to happen...?"
Me: "Nope, don't worry, I'll add it to the list of dealer repairs needed"

Lance - Keep selling it, I'm sure you'll get me back in a Tiv one day.

Well, I hav had a few experiences in mine.

On one trip to North Wales, on a nice sunny day (no it was not raining), I parked in front of a pub in Llangollen, when the kid (XR3i) driver, pointed to my Griff, and "look its one of those new Lotus cars". Doh.

Anotehr trip, to Wrexham this time, I stopped in Halfords to buy some cleaning cloths, and as I came out a young lad stopped me to ask if the Griff was mine, I said yes, he then asked if I could wait for 10 minutes as he just phoned his girlfriend to say there was a TVR in Wrexham, and she loves TVRs. So I waited and chatted, and this nice young 16-17 year old girl came down, and she was shaking, she really loved them so much, and knew a lot about them, so I let her sit in it. It made her day. And I must admit it out a grin on my face as well.

I had a similar experience to david010167....

Just picked up the car, so it was first major drive in it. Along the M6 comes a Clio Williams like a bat out of hell. Me thinks "wots this numpty on with ".

Any Clio decides to go stay level with me for about 1/2 mile then pull in and slow down. This is starting to bug me, so I cruise on by, but as I get a long side he tries (but fails ) to keep up. I then continue at the speed limit on my way.

This scenario repeats itself 3 more times ! However, on attempt 2 I noticed that they had their windows wound down, and when they went by they stuck their heads out to listen.

After attempt 4, they pull along side, and the girly passenger writes on her window in lipstick "Nice car mate, great sound". They then pulled in and waved at us and let us go on in peace

Needless to say it made their day and ours
