Insurance is rearing its head!
Discussion
Bloody bad situation. I haven't used the TVR for 3 years, so it hasn't been insured. Just doing the annual trawl for renewals for our 'normal' cars and as the Tamora will be back soon I checked out renewal for that - only to find out that the NCB was only valid for two years. So I will be starting with ZERO NCB for insurance on a TVR Tamora!!
Bummer.
Any advice on good companies to try, that might 'honour' the fact that I have about 7 years NCB worth of driving on that policy, despite the fact it has officially expired?
TIA

KGM who underwrite MSM's policies did mine with an agreed value for about £450 last year on 3K miles kept outside.
Yep, looks like KGM are good. Three cars for £980, going up to £1119 when I swap out an MX5 for the Tamora. 10k miles each. And they will honour the NCB as and when I come off the family fleet option and just keep the TVR on there.Edited by shep1001 on Tuesday 8th April 18:38
I will discuss agreed value when that time comes so the premium may change a bit.
I have to say I found the service from Mannings absolutely 'top notch' and as a result stayed loyal to them despite cheaper alternatives. I had the misfortune to claim some years back and they were superb. However, unfortunately they don't cover for forced induction so I've gone with Classic line having just completed my conversion, spoke to a guy called Oliver very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Giles at Mannings was also easy to talk with. Shame as I felt I was confessing about seeing another woman when I told Mannings of my change.
I certainly find that dealing with insurance specialists with the TVR a whole lot easier than the run of the mill daily hacks we have to deal with.

Have you tried Admiral ? i have My Cerbera / Jag S Type R & the other halfs Micra Sport all insured for just over £430.I will discuss agreed value when that time comes so the premium may change a bit.
TVR garaged all others on the Street with a mileage of 3k on Cerb and 6k on the others and protected no claims on all.

Yes, we tried them. Looks iike they will cover a 400+bhp TVr, but not a supercharged MX5 running about 200bhp!TVR garaged all others on the Street with a mileage of 3k on Cerb and 6k on the others and protected no claims on all.
Bonkers really.
I have just insured my Tamora with MSM who could not have been more helpful, certainly worth a phone call.
The policy covers myself (36, lots of NCB but used on other cars, 3 pts) and my partner (30, no NCB, 3pts) for up to 10k miles per year with legal cover for £410 per year. They seem to offer a deal to match NCB you have on other vehicles if that helps.

I've gone with MSM. £1100 for three cars including the TVR. If I just stay with them with the TVR next year, they will 'loan' me 5 years NCB. If I then stay with them for 5 years, I will have accrued a total of 10 years NCB - which I can take away with me.The policy covers myself (36, lots of NCB but used on other cars, 3 pts) and my partner (30, no NCB, 3pts) for up to 10k miles per year with legal cover for £410 per year. Shame that they don't do track day cover though.
