Sorry but I think someone has beaten you to it. I tried for years to find a scale model without success.
But a mate of mine found one, and gave it to me for my birthday. I have yet to put it together and spray it (it will be the same colour as mine). But it is the mutts nuts.

If the model could be specified in color etc. e.g. Crystal Topaz with 18" Spyders and Speed 12 lights for a Cerbera. Then I would be interested @ £150.00 other wise to have generic colours like gloss red or gloss black £150.00 is way too much. The RC 1/10th bodies would be of interested too.

Be sure to post details of the site if you go ahead.

I seem to remember somewhere (TVRCC?) you can buy die-cast models of Chim & Griff already. Something like 60 quid for the kit 70 quid built and 80ish in your cars colours/numberplate? Probably not the quality/detail Tim is talking about though.
Or did I have a wierd dream sometime?

Nah you are right - SMTS do this though they are 1/24th scale. I have had two both built to the colour and spec i wanted - they are very well put together and look very good. Only trouble is the scale is very small

The problem with increasing the quantity in order to lower the price is two fold.
Firstly if I increased the quantity to 10,000 I would have to make the models abroad probably in the Far East. The labour is obviously cheaper there, but the quality of the models would suffer and I would spend all my time travelling back and forth to keep a close eye on the production. I don't really want to do this. I would have thought that building models of the classic British sportscar in China or somewhere else is not ethical.

Unfortunately I think it is the reverse with Quality.Models made in the Far East are usually very high detail.I bought a model of a Formula One Ferrari and althought I have had it a couple of years every time I look at it I see something new,all that for £85.There are already models available (1/43rd) of TVRs which can be built to the owners specs. At £150 I think you would probably sell them ,but I agree with most people that they would have to represent the owners specific car and not a generic model. The problem here would be scaling down the varied paint finishes.

The only scale models currently available of the TVR are in 1/43 scale. These models are excellent but 1/43 scale models are only 3-4 inches long and do not feature opening doors etc.

I may look at offering the personalisation service if it was going to be very popular. I could do a limited edition of 500 for the model collectors and another 500 personalised models for TVR owners. I think I will definately include the Griffith and the Chimera in the range but they might not be the first models we launch. I am also looking into the possibility of a 'Swordfish' special model of the Tuscan.

Any more comments will be welcomed.

That's because they are 1:43 scale not 1:24 which means they are twice as small as you think they are Rich...

Hey, what about the 'S' with its beautiful curves?

There are loads of owners out there but I guess you have to draw a line somewhere. Having a background in industrial model making (for films) I know what's involved in making limited models of quality. The price of £150.00 is v.fair if the model is of best quality but whether people here will be prepared to pay for it is a different ball game!

One other comment, if you have to make up a run of 1,000 models for it to be viable, then consider how many actual owners there out there to buy them. There are not 1,000 Tamoras on the road, not sure about Tuscans but I doubt it. Maybe the best bet would be to start with the Chimaera? R...

How about making one prototype, take some close up piccies to show off you skill/talent, post them on a web site and take pre-orders before you build any. See which models are most popular etc, and sell them before you build them. I'm sure you could sell a couple of hundred Chims and Griffs from a good detailed web site and maybe get a review in sprint. Have you thought about selling through the TVRCC or getting someone like Leven to market them? Suppose it would reduce your profit a bit. Good idea though. If it's as good as you claim, I want one.

My Dad and I have been whingeing for ages that there are no decent sized quality models of TVR's. I think doing Griffiths and Chimaeras would be a good idea though - far more owners of these models than some of the newer ones. £150...hmmmm pricey....

Craig,

I had not thought of this perhaps it is something I could look into in the future. I am also considering for the future making Polycarbonate TVR bodies for Radio Controlled cars.

somebody already does that, hence the 60mph, petrol fueled 20cc 1/10th scale Tuscan in my garage

If you make me a Giallo Fly yellow Chim 450 with a Navy blue top and interior... I'll buy it from you.

Otherwise.. 150 pounds is rediculous.
