New triple garage build starts next week
Discussion
Just thought I would offer my pending garage modification work as way of comparison between single and married men.
My Tuscan is due back from S&D in a couple of weeks.
Part of the reason for needing a respray was due to my bulldog chewing on my front winglets , so my Wife is insisting that it is garaged (car not dog) every time in the future.
The garage is barely wide enough to drive the car into and then you cant open the car door to get out. Why do they build garages this size ?
Anyway, so as not to "steal" any of my Wifes garden, I'm installing double side doors so that I can open them before driving the car in

Can I ask what kind of insulation you're using? And are you plaster boarding straight onto the blockwork or dpm/battens?
I'm moving house soon and just getting ideas together.
Mine fits fine in our single garage at the moment, loads of room to spare even with the workbench at the back. I think we're lucky considering the house is fairly new (12yrs old).

2 by 4 battens screwed on with "Lightning" bolts so no need for rawlplugs. Using "vapour" silver foil backed plasterboard because the garage is single skin. Wasn't going to bother with insulation ,more concerned with dampness through the brickwork, did once think of using damp coarse sheeting..I think an air gap might be better, but I'm no expert... I'll ask my builder tomorrow.
Personally I'd insulate, this will help with dampness, you could even install a couple of low energy oils radiators for keeping it dry in the winter. Wouldn't need to be to warm, just a constant temp.
Looks amazing, very jealous
Went to collect a Nissan truck thingy last year and the guy selling it had a heated quad garage with cushioned flooring and a huge workshop with four post lift on the rear. Oh as well as two or three vipers and a cobra..... The place was cleaner than my kitchen.... Think he is a pistonheader.
How the other half live

You're right, asked my builder...He recommenended KINGSPAN or CELOTEX ( he said not to use Insulation Wool type material, because if gets damp it will smell) ... So it's another trip to Wickes....might aswell get my Emulsion there too , since I'm now a TRADE customer getting 10% discount .TailEndCharlie said:
