Foreign Body On My Dipstick!

I quite prepared to stand up for myself where ever I am thanks.
I'm glad to hear it. You must have been in a pretty astronomical number of fights then judging by how you reacted to my post?
quote:
It sounded to me as if Mondeoman and myself were explaining where our info had come from.
For G0d's sake, I wasn't questioning the validity of what you or mondeoman were saying - you certainly seem to know far more about it than I do!

Your just taking the piss. So perhaps you should take it gracefully.
Ah, so you do know I was joking. SOH bypass it obviously is then. (I'm glad I don't work in your office. ) As for taking it gracefully, I'm not the one resorting to calling someone I've never met a 'c0ck' just for making a joke - people in glass houses and all that eh?! You might not find it funny, I myself hardly think it was a classic, but that reaction was hardly warranted.
Anyway, this (and particularly you) is getting boring. Where's the door?

Its not the first time your ill-considered replies have caused controversy though, is it Mr Zippy "I'll call you a rich bastard even though it took you 14 years to afford your TVR and it only took me 11 years" 500.

You don't exactly seek popularity, do you?

Why is it when ever I defend my self you jump down my throat. If people dont make sarcastic comments then I wouldnt react. And why is it when I do react you say I dont what to play anymore, your boring, because you dont like it when someone confronts you. If your not prepared to get comments back why post anything
JonRB: Interesting reading!
Zippy500: I'm happy to call a truce!
scruff400: Poor mondeoman never said a thing! I don't know what you mean about the thread title either. Seems fine to me.
Back on topic, I think I might be able to contribute something of use (I studied Tribology in the final year of my Mech. Eng. degree last year so still remember some of what they tried so hard to drum into me!). My personal opinion is to change the oil now and use a magnet to check for metallic debris as has already been suggested. If there is something wrong you need to know about it now, don't wait another few thousand miles for the next service. The best way to think about it is probably to think how many engine revolutions will be undergone in, say, 2,000 miles. Even at idle speed you're looking at approx. 1000rpm - you're looking at hundreds of thousands or more of potentially damaging revolutions before the next service. A stitch in time and all that!
Also, you can buy magentic oil filters these days. A family friend has designed one that is used in F1 but I can't remember the name. However, I believe there is an on-road variant of it available for reasonable money. When I get my Tuscan next year I'll probably fit one but for the Buick/Rover/TVR lump in my Chimaera I haven't bothered. If you want the name I can dig it up for you.
Hope this helps!
