Is this the one built from parts by the chap who bought the original one?
No. This is a new car built by Helical Engineering in Lytham, who employ several ex TVR guys. Based on the last of the 5 tubs originally built by TVR but this one was never assembled back in the day, but AFAIK that's about it for original parts.

The bodywork is all new but made from the original moulds. It runs a dry-sumped Aston V12 similar to Graham's.

I got my Cerb when I was 21, cost £1200 for insurance, not too bad I thought. It is now £900 at the age of 23.
Griff was £1000ish at the ripe age of 22.

Checking my PH member id though, I'm just a newbie. frown

I was having dinner with my boss last night and we were discussing the return. I then overheard the table behind us talking about TVR.
The buzz is there!

Good Grief, there was I thinking all this banter was amongst a bunch of lads maybe late twenties to late thirties, and it turns out Rover P6B is 58, and blueg33 is nearly 50... eek

ORD, have to ask, I'm guessing your 30 something? (don't get all uptight or Porsche-ist it's just banter wink )

I know DA is in his 90's, and I'm no spring chicken, but it's beginning to sound like this thread is wrinkly dominated biggrin

Apparently, and according to my daughter, there is life after wrinkly status, seemingly when you've moved on from wrinkly, you become a dribbly smile Made I Larf biggrin

So here we are, bunch of old blokes, talking about 450bhp TVR's smile Few more years and it'll be mobility scooters smile

No offence to anyone was intended in this post whistle
The advantage in being an old git is (typically):

a. More disposable income, hence being able to consider a new £60k TVR
b. Not really caring what others think of you
c. Life experience that helps you make slightly more objective observations

Oh, and 50 isn't old, its the new 30 don't you know smile

I've got it insured under a normal car policy, 6000 miles and business use with Admiral.

I think I got lucky, when I got the Griff I was 21 but you could still get insured as a named driver. Couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

Err, that was 15 years ago (with Privilege). Insurance for 22 years olds may have increased.

On the plus side, £300 for classic car insurance is even better.

Will they I wonder be at next years London motor Show in Battersea ?

TVR have a rich history in having very eye catching exhibits on press day, certainly in the 1970s & 80s .

Which is slightly ironic considering they are far more prevalent a sales tool in 2015 than they ever were in the 70s. In the 70s you had to buy a car mag, photographer's mag or look up to the top shelf to see any scantily clad women. Today they've got hookers plastered over every page of children's magazines.

It seems that if the ripper is flogging make up, clothing or anything other than a car to feeble bints and kids then it is somehow offensive.

Does old prevent you from considering that the 60K price tag is likely to be for a different car to that being discussed... smile

The more I think about it, the more I think that £60k is very optimistic and an unnecessarily low price point. £70k or £80k wouldnt, I don't think, hit volumes very hard.

Given that nobody actually buys cars anymore, the differences in monthly payments will be small; the more important factor will be how the price compares to the German standards. And I think £70k could still be made to look good value.

Interesting and easy to understand Jalopnik article explaining the differences and pro/cons between cross-plane and flat-crank V8's.

http://www.jalopnik.com/what-is-a-flat-plane-crank...

I know I keep banging this drum, but I really do hope TVR are able to go for the Ford Voodoo engine. It would be so much more special than a hum drum cross plane V8 and would follow on very nicely from the AJP8 engine.

Some folk do buy cars, that aside, how will lease/finance companies look at residuals? Where is the market to 1500 cars a year with unknown residuals... Where is the market ??
