Are you sure it's the switches?
If I remember correctly, these have a ribbon attached to the back of the switches and sometimes it's the ribbon contacts that just need cleaning up at either end.
Hi Ged, sorry for delay in replying been away for Easter, yeh its definitely the switches, the hazard switch won't turn off, and the fog switch has power going to it but nothing out, I've sent switches away to be repaired, they should be sorted by about Wednesday, the repaired wing looks good but the new paint stands out like a sore thumb, and the viback window has to go back as its twisted, apart from that everything is going swimmingly.

Hi Ged, I've had the fog and hazard switch repaired at a cost of £ 142, the wing has been repaired and painted, unfortunately it stands out like a sore thumb due to the rest of the paint being tinged with smoke, the viback window was replaced whilst off the car, its a bit skew so is going back next week to be sorted as is the mot being done, as for the paint I am going to get an estimate for a respray next week. Money wise it's getting out of hand, apart from that all's well, take a look at the pics see if you can see the difference in the offside wing to the rest of the car, Jim.

Have you considered geting someone to clay bar/deep polish it? That may get the smoke out.

Where did you get the carpets from mate?

Hi Ged, I bought the roll of carpet from cloverdale on eBay with the intention of cutting and fitting them myself but when I saw how many pieces there were I decided to take it to Trimtech ex works they used my carpet, cut it, edged it and fitted it £30, I'm certain he would supply you with the carpet cut to shape and edged, in any colour you want, if you want his number let me know.

Yes the car has had so much polishing I am in danger of going through the clear coat plus the newly painted wing looks slightly darker than the rest, every time I polish the car it seems to go a bit lighter, I was thinking of getting someone to wet n dry then polish the car, I'm unsure what to do yet.

Cool.

I'm getting mine resprayed as well. I've got until 30 April to strip it down ready for paint.

Are you having a complete respray and have you had a quote for yours?

Hi Ged, I'm only having the outside sprayed no internals I've had a couple of quotes ranging from £2000+vat to £3000 no vat and I'm getting another quote on Monday afternoon the first one I'm not sure about as he was asking me if spraying fibreglass was different from spraying metal, I'll get a couple more quotes before I decide, there can't be much to strip can there, I was going to let them strip the car for me, I noticed last night that the electric mirrors have stopped working, that's another job to sort.

Help... Cars booked in Monday at 1300hrs for mot, took car round block yesterday drove OK till I got back, stopped engine then tried restarting, it started but wouldn't Rickover, undid petrol cap big hiss and car starts, repeated whole procedure same results, the only thing I was unsure about on the rebuild was when replacing the pipe run from the carbon canister I ran the pipe to the bottom of the rollover valve then out of the top to the tank, is this the right way? If anybody knows please let me know before tomorrow. Cheers Jim.

Decided to give car a good polish, I don't think it warrants the expense of a respray, I am going to have the car looked at to solve the running problems, just got the new dash to fit next weekend and cars finished.

Hi Ged, it turns out the speedo didn't work so the ECU thought car wasn't running so it cuts out sorted speedo car runs OK now, passed mot, had a few problems this afternoon. Power steering resovoir developed a leak, both rocker cover gaskets leaking, otter switch packed up car overheated and blew the heater hose off, apart from that everything is great, going to get all the little niggles sorted then put it up for sale, I don't know what it's worth but I've got £10,000 in it and twelve months labour.
