I think I'm going to recommend www.webshots.com for photo albums in future as Fotango is a bit fiddly. I've had a play with Webshots and it seems simpler.
An excellent day out was had by myself and number 2 son. Well done to the Cambridge chapter for organising it and runing it so smoothly .
It was a home from home for me at the BBQ, I've always told the kids that sausages were meant to be that colour when you BBQ them but they've never believed me, until now .
The blat up the runway was interesting, I could not believe the speed at which the modern 'T' cars hauled themselves up it .
I managed to convince myself that the Griff500 is needed now though as post 80mph they just kept on going so strongly, also in the 4ltr 'class' I am pleased to say that the V8S hauls ass .
The award for the best audio sound track of the day must surely IMHO go to the purple cerbie, awesome noise, although I've always had a soft spot for big wedges and to hear, I think three SEAC's, gun it at the same time was memorable
Again well done and thanks to Mr Tank and the team at Cambridge

Just to add my thanks to everyone involved for a top day out - what I want to know is how Mr Tank managed to get the weather to change just in time for the runway to dry out. Sprinting with the other 2 SEACs was awesome and I think we (and some of the other Wedges!) surprised some of the more modern machinery!
PS. Rumour has it that Patrick has actually replaced his silencer with an amplifier!!

Wonder what terminal velocities were reached. I was bottling out early as I didn't want to visit the green stuff, and not sure of my braking capabilities. One blue Griff did a 360 and a bit after passing me near the end whilst trying to find the exit.
I was hitting 4.5K rpm in top (125mph ish I think) before braking and to be honest did not have to brake too hard with standard pads and discs between the 150m and 100m markers to slow in a controlled fashion .
Like you say there did seem to be a few snatched brakes and I didn't want to be collected either .
I would have thought that the 500's out there must have been doing up to 140 and the 'T's more, any one out there care to add facts to my guesses?
Harry
I have got a chim 4.0hc, I touched 137mph.The runway towards the end was a bit deceiving so I used the fire truck on the grass to the left as a marker to let the power off. Its a shame coz the runway could have been a bit longer to get the full potential. F**k knows how they managed to get that B52 bomber on the deck back in 83.

I have the same lump under the bonnet (in a lighter car which should compensate for the bulk of the driver ) and if the speedo was accurate it showing 140 but I prefer to go by the revs, assuming the clutch wasn't slipping .

When the M11 was built, (which must have been around 1983 I think) a chunk of Duxford was lost, which probably accounts for the reason that some planes are now stuck there. Concorde in hanger 1 for example was originally flown in, so I understand, but cannot now leave except if they stripped it down and took it away by road.

Just been through the recording of my speedo(if its accurate).
Shows i topped out at 140 but doesnt show the REVs.
From what i can remember i was doing about the same each time and was in fourth and just about hitting 6k before braking hard as soon as i got in line with the fire truck, locked them up once but not for long.
Still grinning

Most attempts I took the power off at around 140 (too busy to look down!). My highest speed was 145mph, though on that run I braked late, and fairly hard. Interesting to see where everyone else decided to brake, I was mostly scared of locking up, or skidding into someone else. I'm still getting the hang of driving hard...
My passenger managed to get a few shots in...

Bloody good laugh, can't wait for the next opportunity.

137mph was my final speed after five attempts. I did start to get brake fade on my fourth attempt so I called a halt to the antics on my fifth attempt. Can any one help me with a small problem. While charging at 125mph in third I suffered severe pinking until I changed to fourth, then it was ok.It felt like a plug or a lead but would appreciate help if someone has suffered similar.

Russ, any ideas why you had the legs over pat with a pretty much identical car??
Got a couple of nice stills of your car if your interested...
Cheers
Stuart (Patricks passenger )
Oh, you forgot about the megaphone in the boot attached to said amplifier

There was a blue griff/chim (too busy looking the right way) behind me on 2 runs. Noticed the passenger had a camera. Was it anyone here? Red Wedge with attitude interested.
Could have been me, I did a few runs with a mate in his Griff. I think I have some video of you actually, the sun buggered me up though!
Is your reg H311 FLA?

d_drinks - Fotango asks for a username and password. What do I do ?
I've played around with the album to try and stop the password prompt being displayed, the link below should now work. .......

Took my 4.0HC for 5 runs and managed an indicated 130MPH. But I was chickening out before the end of the runway and getting a couple of slides on at the beginning. Could have got more if I tried (but not by much). Still, impressed the old girl can get up there - did have the roof off though and at around 120MPH the dust kicked up starts getting in the cabin and blinding me (currently having an extension build on my house so there is plenty of sand / dust on the drive - which makes it in the car).
On the best run I had (look liked a little more than 130MPH) I had a packet of cigarettes decide to fly! It was in the gap beneath the stereo (thought that would be OK). But the wind picked it up and started flinging it at my face - somewhat concerning.... Still, rather amusing to see a "Flying fag packet".....
Nice to see that I could gain on 4.0 models though. Didnt think that there would be much in it from 4.0 to 4.0HC, but there seems to be a bit anyway... Anyone else seen the same?
Frighteningly though - that Tuscan is just staggeringly fast. Oh dear the bank manager is going to hate me.....
Congrats to the Cambridge group for organising it. Well set out, executed and run. If only all things can be this well organised. Shame about the weather at first, but cleared up just in time.
Cheers,
Paul

Great day out. Many thanks to Tank & Co for the excellent organisation.
My Chim 4.3 performed really well for an old girl. I was hitting at best around 130-132 terminal speed, although I was breaking early. I'm sure this was a fair amount more than managed last year and my co-pilot had a bigger bottom than the one at last years event
Now to submit this message and click on the link for a new set of tyres.
Cheers all, A4.3 TVR
