So, did the Carisma Cerbera run at all?

Was everyone blown away in a wake of 'Fast and Furious' nitrous?

Sadly, no...apparently the nitrous isn't functional yet, and they've still got some work to do on the car generally e.g. upgrading the rear brakes. A pity the Ratpac Cerbies didn't venture out, too.

HarryW, was that your V8S I went past a couple of times (silver Griff up the inside)? I have to say that the runway discipline seemed very good and on my runs at least everyone was braking well apart from each other. I remember the good old days when we could do standing starts - much more fun and more skilful but impossible now due to number of cars. Wonder why we always sprint into the sun though?

My feet still ache! Very well done Andy H and Co, where shall we go next year?!

I did 5 runs in my 4.0 Chim (Black with Zertec lights), managed 125 at best. Was passed by a blue chim which I guess must have been a 4.0HC or 4.3...it ate me for breakfast over the second half of the runway.

If it was a standard 4.0 would the owner please let me know, since my car is obviously under powered !

Fab day all round and thanks to everyone involved.

I was a passenger in Rick Albrow's Tuscan S- 4 litre and his on board computer said we did 149 mph. It beat me in our Chimaera 4.5, I only got to 135 mph (according to my passenger, I did not dare take my eyes off the runway!)

And the 5 Cerbera's that left in convoy at 5:30 was this the Ratpac?? turned left our of the ground towards Royston, before all dropping their lead right foots and disappearing off in a cacophony of noise !!

Yeah, thats was the Ratpac....

Normally there are 7 Cerbs, but ours was at home in the garage, and 1 car left early (with me onboard)...

This is a story that I overheard one ratpack chap say to a friend of mine...

We were booting it through 4th gear and went to change to 5th. As I pressed the clutch the revs went through the roof and the gear change light was going mental. My first thought was that I had lost the gear box as the car was in neutral. What really happened was that the throttle was stuck fully opened and I had just taken it out of gear. Luckily the throttle unstuck itself after a couple of seconds and I was
able to engage 5th gear.

About 2 minutes later it got stuck
in 5th at about 145mph. That's when I
really shat myself as I was approaching traffic. I slammed on the brakes which started to slow the car. A few seconds later the throttle unstuck and normal service was resumed.

It was a bit
of a dodgy situation: as if I had
taken it out of gear It might have blown the engine or if I had switched the engine off I might of lost the brakes!
It only seems to stick when I bury the peddle in the floor. I am off to XX XX today to get the exhaust done so I will get them to have a look at it....;o)

Have read on the anything new at Duxford thread that Leven had their demo Griffith 500 fresh from having the TVR bodyshop/Jason Webb headlamp conversion and the Leven new stainless steel grill (black) fitted. Anyone get any pics of the revised lights?? must have missed it as i went over the Leven stand (the one under the same area as CDL racing right??)

managed 156mph on the GPS with my new CR gearbox in the Tuscan - quite nice to pull away from the 4.5 Cerbera behind.

Did anyone notice how hot their wheels got? Did the 5 runs and had to go, but stopped just before leaving to pick up my 16 month old son - he fell asleep on the way home with the roof off, sod...

However, noticed that the wheels were rather warm.... And I didnt go the fastest - anyone else notice this?

Cheers,

Paul.

P.S. Any Chimaera owners - what water temp did you hit after a few runs? Mine never broke the 90 mark, but cant help thinking that she's running a little warm - just trying to compare...

That's the first time I have been to such an event as my mate JulianHJ just bought a blue Griff 500HC a few months ago. Oh my god, I am addicted! What a blast. I took some shots with Julian's camera as we flew down the runway (it's a shame it wasn't longer!).

The best bit had to have been when we got overtaken whilst doing 140 by that white tuscan race car. Other than that it was just great to see so many nice people and such a good atmosphere, thanks!

Just to add my thanks to everyone involved for a top day out - what I want to know is how Mr Tank managed to get the weather to change just in time for the runway to dry out. Sprinting with the other 2 SEACs was awesome and I think we (and some of the other Wedges!) surprised some of the more modern machinery!

PS. Rumour has it that Patrick has actually replaced his silencer with an amplifier!!

Silencer ??
And this is wot ??

tvradict, would V much like to have a copy of the runs, esp the last one where we briefly made a Griff sandwich between Brm Brm & I

PB: Not breaking the 90 mark is fine on a day like that. It's not so much the temp you get in transit I think, but the heat soak when you stop afterwards. That's why I always pop the bonnet of the Griff when I know it's been working hard.

Thats what I thought. Just checking - thanks John.
