I usually wave at all models, except for when I have my hans full of course!

I won't ask who Hans is!

But getting back to the point - I was blanked by a Tuscan today whilst driving my Wedge over Edenfield Road towards Haslingden.

Just remember buddy one day you may find yourself broken down on that exposed piece of moorland.

I'll be sure to wave as I drive past!

If the situation is reversed - I wouldn't expect you to stop anyway you nobber!

** Quick edit just to clarify; the above post was addressed at the ignorant Tuscan owner and of course not deeen, whom I'm sure is a lovely chap.

*** Another edit just to say, that if you wave at me in the future - I'll take it all back

As I Chimaera owner I've found that the newer, more expensive cars, were very remiss about waving / acknowledging.

I noticed this particularly the Tuscan when it was new as it was attracting owners new to the marque, some of whom were not enthusiasts. I found that with some of the newer Cerberas too.
As the Tuscan and Cerbera have fallen in price they've been bought by enthusiasts who do wave and the miserable bastards ("I've spent too much money on this car to acknowledge you, peasant") are now driving T350s. I should point out that I am not tarring all T350 owners with this brush, just those who exhibit the above tendencies.

Perhaps when the Chimaera was new that was true of them too, but I've found Chimaeras and Griffs are almost all owned by enthusiasts now who will acknowledge other TVRs.

This is pretty much the point I was trying to make, so like Podie, apologies for the wording of my previous post

I do try to wave at the TVRs I see, even the miserable gits who you know have seen you but try hard to just keep staring straight ahead. Though if you ever flash me and see my wipers go twenty to the dozen you'll know I've hit the wrong stalk again.

Am I the only one to get all flustered when another Tiv approaches? I go all to pot and start thinking I'm in the shopping car, which has completely different stalks. Twice now I've tried to flash and sprayed washer all over the screen. I just hope the other owners knew what I meant. Other times I've just about cottoned-on to the fact that a Tiv-shape is hoving into view when all I can manage is the most pathetic half-wave that my passenger would be unlikely to spot, let alone the bloke / blokesse peering down the other bonnet.

No-one's flashed me yet. Bastards.

I've yet to meet an older Tiv on the road (I drive a V8S) but when I do, you can be sure I'll be looking through soapy suds in salute!

Brought up around a 3000M and wegde, you see. Great-looking cars, the older models.

I think the problem is that there are a load of Tiv owners who simply don't know what a Wedge/S/M/Tasmin look like. Similarly there are are probably a load of pipe smoking, Werthers sucking, flat cap wearing ex Wing Commanders who don't know what a Chimaera/Cerbera/Tamora/(new)Tuscan/(new)Griff look like.

That last bit was a cheap shot at humour, no offence meant

The bottom line is the cars are that rare on the road that you have to know exactly what to look for and be alert at all times. I know of at least one PHer who mistakenly waved at a MG RV8 thinking it was a Chimaera .

Came up behind a delightful older chap and his wife the other day, braving the chilly weather with the roof down on their SEAC. Clearly he saw me, as he indicated right and slowed a little (not much) and both of tham waved me past! Gave it some 2nd gear popping and banging and they were grinning from ear to ear as I rocketed past.

In terms of feeling out of place, one of the TVRCC meetings I went to last year the tables were turned - my 98 Chim that I had at the time was the newest car there by about ten years.... but they were still welcoming, despite the fact that I didn't drive a "real" TVR! Wonder what they'd think if I turned up with the Cerb.....

I've been known to wave at TVRs...and then remember I'm driving the Porsche today!

If a nutter in a bright red Boxster S waves at you. Wave back!

Whoever was in the light metallic blue Chim that gave me a friendly beep near Wells at about 1100 yesterday (Sunday) - sorry I didn't reply, I was lost & arguing with the 'navigator' (g/f) and didn't realise you were there til you'd gone! Otherwise - always wave / beep / flash !

Not all newer TVR owners are snobs, I have an S2 and Ive had a couple of waves and flashes from a yellow Cerb around Chester. And today a Rosso Red Griff flashed asI was leaving chester. I also broke down one day and a car , tin top , pulled up and the guy offered help, his other car was a Griff .

Have to confess I would't have recognised some of the older models before I joined the CC.

Seems pretty much 50:50 split between old and new for the non wavers.

Now I'm pretty much on the ball but there are occasions when I've only noticed what is next to me as I've passed and missed the chance to wave.

(Apologies to the S I passed by in Chesterfield last week. I was totty watching instead. Did give it a big rev though! Seemed a suitable rear facing alternative.)

I understand exactly what you mean Infinity though I think most Chim & Cerb drivers fit into the same friendly bracket as that of the older cars. Yesterday for example whilst out in the Chim I passed a T350 and 2 Tuscans, none of which waved, flashed or were in the least bit friendly. However, I was Overtaken (at warp speed) by a Cerbie down the A1 who went passed and flashed hazards in acknowledgement. I've also found on other drives that S owners, other Chims and the only wedge I've seen on the road will also give a friendly wave or flash of lights.
For some reason its the much newer post 2000 car owners (not all I hasten to add) that are the unsociable bunch. Seems newer TVRs are more often being sold to non-enthusiasts now, please don't let us go the way of Ferrari and Porsche and end up with faceless tw*ts driving our cars who want nothing more than a fast car and the ability to pose...

Well tht saves me posting. My sentiments exactly.

When I'm driving the Vixen I get the impression people in new TVRs have no idea what a Vixen is.

Sad but true.

As a relatively young M owner (34) I have to say that I was dissapointed when I attended the one and only TVRCC local meet having spent a year restoring some bits in boxes to its former glory, the first person who spoke to me after being there for quite some time asked "don't you fancy a proper one then" as he stood next to his Chim, It also seemed very clicky to me and as such I have not been back, I did meet one very nice chap in a stunning Vixen who sold me some bits and bobs I needed and when I collected from him he was only too happy to show me his awray of vehicles ranging from Vixen to T350. I have to say that my faith was somewhat restored on my way home from the meet when a green griff coming the opposite way was frantically flashing and giving me the thumbs up !!
One week later I was in a village in Northumberland when a guy came over and asked me what my car was it then transpired he owned a Cerbie and stated " I didn't know thwy made them that old" - It takes all sorts I suppose.

I wave at absolutely every TVR, and I especially love the wedges because we had one and it brings back such wonderful memories. Is it normal to cry when selling a tiv?

Seeing vixens and M's race at Brands Hatch when I was 13 is what started off my love of TVRs so rest assured I'll be certain to wave should I see you coming...

I wave at all TVR's and to be honest find most wave back or wave at me first...!

As for being made welcome at meets I always find my V8S attracts as much attention as any other at a meet so cant say Ive notivced that Infinity, hope to see you at a meet sometime soon.

Remember that bit, finally caught up with the two other Tuscans and your good self, only because it was a 30 zone , in the poor mans V8S .
