Agreed, we went on a run last Sunday and at the MX5 owners club coming in the opposite direction, there again i thought it was Chim first

Remember that bit, finally caught up with the two other Tuscans and your good self, only because it was a 30 zone , in the poor mans DIRTY V8S .

Was rather hoping it would have rained on that 'diversion' for three reasons.

1. It would have cleaned the car on the move .
2. I would have been able to keep up with all you rich tuscan owners as you struggled to get the power down .
3. You could have spent more time waving at the poorer cars due to the more relaxed speeds on the NSL's .

I waved at 7 TVR's in slow city traffic(6 chimaera's and 1 Cerbera) last saturday as I drove the wedge from Southend on Sea to Hull and NOBODY showed any attention to us.

That's not normal for this part of the country. they was probably all concentrating on the speed camera's. Mind you, what side of the road were you on ?

I've always found that most TVR drivers wave back - whatever the age of their car and everyone is very friendly at meets - which amazes me as my S costs about the same as some of your Tuscan paint jobs.

Oh, if you see a maniac in a copper Matiz waving franticly - that's the wife's car

Came up behind a delightful older chap and his wife the other day, braving the chilly weather with the roof down on their SEAC. Clearly he saw me, as he indicated right and slowed a little (not much) and both of tham waved me past! Gave it some 2nd gear popping and banging and they were grinning from ear to ear as I rocketed past.

In terms of feeling out of place, one of the TVRCC meetings I went to last year the tables were turned - my 98 Chim that I had at the time was the newest car there by about ten years.... but they were still welcoming, despite the fact that I didn't drive a "real" TVR! Wonder what they'd think if I turned up with the Cerb.....

We understood from several people driving older TVR's that they don't feel welcome on UK or regional meetings because of the age of their cars

Oh, I really hope that is not the case.

Oh so do I....

We love all TVRs at Mid Essex and actively encourage those with older models to attend.

I would love to see a Vixen or a Grantura at a Mid Essex Meet...........we don't have any at all!

So...if anyone with one of these wants to visit us on Sunday...we would be delighted to meet you.

I'll wave to any TVR and would hope to see a wave back......
Have to bear in mind that our Cerb is a classic now.....

i got waved at by a dark coloured tuscan yesterday whilst coming onto the a30 from the lord derby area
and gave him a flash and
when i worked in bracknell last year i passed a mint 350i wedge in silver everyday and we would be almost hanging out the window waving at each other
my uncle has a white vixen which he has owned since he was 21 and is now in his late 40's, its been off the road for several years now due to moving houses and renovating them, i keep telling him if he dont get the vixen back on the road soon i will be comandering it for myself

I must agree with the initial post I'm afraid.
I do heaps of mileage in my S3 now I'm down sarth but I have been totally ignored by the majority of the TVR's I meet. Sad really

And the TVRCC wonder why single model events are so popular?

Nope

you all got it wrong-it goes like this.

Driving along and I see a TIV-any TIV ( and I remember the Clipper young folk)
my usual reaction is " WOW lookitthat....oh bugger meant to flash!"

Thanks for all the mostly denying and therefore positive replies. However I think the truth will be in the middle and I think we have to keep in mind the fact that most people on PH are enthusiasts, there is a whole bunch of guys out there just buying TVR's because their friends tell them to do so.

For example I met a guy at a petrolstation near Amersham this weekend, he just blew up the SP6 engine from the factory-demonstrator Tuscan S ("S6 TVR")he received as a courtesy-car while his cerbera 4.2 was with Jamie from TVR power for service, he for example did not even have a PH-profile he told me when I asked him.

it is true that you meet the odd Tiv driver who seems to be suffering from a '1000 yard stare' if you wave, nod, flash headlights, but these are the minority.

I guess some people who are new to the marque may not recognise some of the more, ahem mature models.

Personally I acknowledge all models of TVR, especially Griff drivers for whom I have perfected my "Gareth Hunt Maxwell House wave"

2 classes of TVR ownership

1. Those with the latest colour and model
2. Old gritters

Objection...
I think more appropriate is....
1. Enthusiasts
2. People who just happen to own one and see it no different to any other car.

Signed
Old gritter with latest model/colour.

To be honest i find it the other way round, i find that older tvr's ( pre griff) tend to ignore me if im in the tuscan, funny thing is these were the cars that got me loving tvr in the first place.

If I see a TVR coming, I'll wave. If I don't, I won't.

And I've lost count of the number of times I've clobbered the A pillar with my right hand trying to get my arm out to wave.

Same with me, provided I notice the other Tiv, I wave above the top of the windscreen as the roof is usually down. If the roof isn't down, I bruise my knuckles and the other driver may think I've ignored him/her....

It I don't notice the other Tiv, it's usually because I'm paying more attention to the speedo because of the large number of speed cameras in Lancashire.....

I've have also indulged in mutual waving with a Noble that I've seen in the area.

Wave to any if I see one but tend to see them only when I'm in the company car. DOH!!!!
Only one has the other car not waved back and that was a blue Chim on the M6. He can't deny he didn't see us as it was a clear sunny day and he followed us for a couple of miles before I slowed down to let him past - still no wave.
I think some people just buy the cars for looks and performance and don't want anything to do with the club or associated events. It is just a car to them. Each to their own but they are missing out on a life - it's not just a car.
Keep on
