The T350 was, however, the Tamora with a different body, so people buying the T350 weren't taking much of a risk compared with LE's completely new cars. We ordered a Tamora around Sep 2002 (direct from the factory) and the factory asked us if we wanted to change the order to a T350 just prior to the NEC Motor Show in Oct 2002 (where the T350 was unveiled). We declined as we wanted a convertible, and even though we went to the Motor Show care of TVR, we didn't change our mind.
Yes i agree :0 although when i bought it i was told that the new 3.6 engines didn't go pop .... lol
I don't know what all the fuss is about with the S6 engines - mine's still as strong as ever after 13 years! (fingers crossed)

How are you Alan? Long time no see.

Was a classic pic smile
Hi Mike,

Yes been a long time.

All is well.

I am down your way in September - racing at the Speed Trial in my Merc AMG.

Still have a TVR in the garage. Work in progress.

How is everything going for you?

On the value of the LE, with the Saggy changing hands for ~£65k, a limited edition, power upgraded modern TVR for ~£80k might look pretty reasonable value. The refundable deposit seems like a decent free option and TVR are openly allowing you to flip the allocation.. I'm surprised the full 500 LE slots haven't been filled. The launch will be a make or break moment so they'll be sure to throw everything at it.. thoughts? Maybe 500 cars are too many to make it GT3 RS rare..

500 is a lot in today's market, but then again it's an option pack thrown in at a reduced price. If you can still spec your colour, interior, wheels etc. I don't think too many will say no to a carbon-clad chassis and upgraded engine for what is likely to work out at half list price or so....

So many nay sayers on the general gassing thread. I've left them to wallow in their smugness leaving me to really hope the new car is a massive success

+1 I've given up on that thread.

EDIT: Anyone heard anything further on the deposit holder's preview?

That's what us Brits are good at.... Why can't British people just be pleased that a British sports car maker is returning, if it doesn't work out then so be it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

We met Les Edgar on the Ferry to Le Mans..... car still being developed, slight modification to size. initial models will have more carbon and included options than later ones and will be more expensive (c85k). Sounds like they will only sell direct from factory, they will also have a 'flying spanners' service to get technicians out to cars if required. engine will be Coyote v8 reworked by cosworth. they are looking to set up an equivalent to the old TVR finance. Deposit holders will get to see it first in Q4 and public unveiling 2017

Excellent. Thanks for the update. I only put my deposit down quite recently so I expect to be in the 400's on the list. They appear to be quite comfortable with the circa £85k number being floated about for the LE. It's not the affordable TVR of old and places them in a very competitive segment but the more I hear the more convinced I am that it will be worth it, and true to the TVR marque. My F430 appears to be holding value nicely so I'm hoping I'll be blown away at the preview in Q4, commit to the LE, and sell the 430 in 2017 to pay for it.

The whole thing from cradle to grave is a GMD project with GM at the helm. If the product makes it to market then what is under the skin is going to be in a different league. It will be the Holy Grail of the 21st century motoring market. A sporting GT with a manual gear change, a big stinky V8 and designed by GM. As the project gets closer to delivery you can be assured of more and more vitriol from the Boxster and Lotus arena and after the reveal, if they've got the looks right, then you can expect more to join in from the 'consumption for show' end of the car market.

It really is that simple, the more vitriol and sniping from the 'brand consumers' the better. Frankly that noise will be the barometer for this project's success.

It all hinges on the looks now. I hope they make it wider and meaner looking than the thing under the blanket. It really has to have the "wow WTF is that?" factor to differentiate it from the merely pretty sports cars like the F type. Driver appeal and performance should be there, it's all about the styling. I hope they get it right.

I very much want to like this car but am nervous at the price point being so close to 911s money ..this takes it into a different league from Boxster/Lotus/f-type. I've got a deposit down too on the LE but feel it's a large leap of faith and don't like the fact a run of cheaper cars are following in behind it.

I'm thinking maybe early adopters will get a look-in on any special edition cars that are developed later but can't help feeling Les Edgar could do a much better job of reassuring his crucial first customers..

But if it looks and goes like this for £85K no one will complain!

or even this ..
TVR interpretation of a 'poor' mans street legal Vulcan ? As a depositeer for the LE , i'm excited that it could possibly look anything like this (minus the huge rear wing..).
Similar shape /profile , side exit exhaust, flat floor,'Bonkers' rear end (in les's own words)..
Can't wait for the preview .....

Pretty much the same page I'm on, original estimates of prices were 55-75k. I'd just about stomach 75 but will think very hard about 85 and will probably sit it out for the lesser follow on car tbh. Far too rich for me for a play thing.
I think I'd might even just spend even more on the Cerb and leave it there..... Can't help but think that the price point will now be the death of the new TVR, if you can't get existing enthusiasts to buy in then it's doomed to fail. I hope I'm wrong though.

Anyone heard anymore about Cosworths work on the Coyote, I'm expecting big things seeing as you can buy a tweaked crate version direct from Ford racing giving 500hp at around 10k.

Ok slightly different thought after brexit. Ebbw vale is probably the eus most heavily funded town. They paid for the dual carriageway, the railway, the sports centre, training college and it's this and large Europe grants that have attracted companies there. How much of the Tvr factory plans rely on the grants? Initial funding only or funding over a number of years for the startup and job creation? Will this still be available?

The post Brexit / Ebbw Vale question is very important for TVRs plans. Ebbw Vales regeneration and inward investment has been heavily funded by EU development grants which is probably why TVR chose Ebbw Vale. The EU funding will disappear.

But EU grants were just redistributed UK money, ergo it's not an absolute they will cease just come direct from Central funds....until review.
