I had an email a while back saying the new Griff would be at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC this weekend - starting today. Anyone been? Is it there? Same car as shown at Goodwood? Any updates?

It's been at GM's exhibition all week (which was excellent BTW), so if it's going there it'll be from tomorrow.

Hi,

The car arrived Thursday afternoon at the NEC,
We had started building the stand Wednesday,
Finished off Thursday morning, display cars started arriving midday Thursday,
The new car driven onto the stand, sounded brilliant......
We pushed it onto the display plinth then put the rest of the cars in situ.
This car needs to be seen in the flesh.....
Les and the team have done a splendid job encapturing elements of past TVR models, and what one should sound like.....plus it promises to be a well behaved missile!
The stand was v.busy today.....we are preparing for the next two days with lots of LEmon drizzle cake, tea, coffee and snacks for TVRCC folk please come and see👍
You can join the TVRCC on the stand if you aren't a member, or just come and see what the future beholds for TVR 😀

When on earth will TVR put some decent images up. That's not showing the car off at all. The colour was a beautiful red.

It looked stunning, pride of place on the corner of the stand not far from the entrance to Hall 1

They had the displays cycling through a demo mode, speed climbing, rev counter climbing, central display changing modes

Stand was busy everytime we went near it

I didn't notice before how T350 this looks from it's profile.

Like it a lot.

This thread inspired me to pop to the NEC today, amongst other things to see the TVR.

I can honestly say that photos don't do it justice, it is stunning in the flesh. As mentioned before the red is very deep and lovely.

The rear end is it's weakest link. It looks bigger than photos too, probably because half the car is its bonnet!

Also overheard a TVR staffer say that the next step is a 600bhp version....

obligatory photos -

I wonder when we'll see the first driving reviews? I've got a deposit down but I'm getting itchy feet! Really would love to see/hear this thing at full pelt soon.

Popped along to the Classic Car show at the NEC today to have my first look at the new Griffith... I think it looks brilliant - really like it. My wife loves it too which is handy ;o)

Not exactly in the market for one of these at the moment, but could really see me adding to the TVR collection in the future thumbup

Well it's not road legal yet, so I guess we won't see the mags getting their hands on the show car any time soon. They were saying Q3 2018 for first production, so I would think that early Summer next year would be the time the first reviews start coming through.

Hi,
Spent the last two days discussing the new car with members of the public, more of that beckons today,
What has struck me is the unanimous positive response and reaction from folk regarding the new car, countless people have said that after seeing the car in real time their mind is made up in that they love it......
Come and visit out stand, you will made welcome.
Just brilliant👍

What was wonderful about a new TVR was that it would be revealed at a Motor show in Autumn and be available in the dealers in the Spring. smile

I know the TVRs were all evolutions, and the early cars generally had a few issues/niggles, but this "new thing" is going to be dated by the time customer cars are available and I've no doubt the early cars will have their issues/niggles.

I spoke to Les at the stand yesterday, a very down to earth chap full of enthusiasm for the car. He stated journo cars likely late q1 next year, he admitted they've timed it a little wrong as the slippy season isn't a ideal time to give a car like that to unforgiving hacks.

Made the trip up the the NEC today. Can only endorse others comments - car looks great in the flesh - what an arse !! Front end / grille area bland but they are taking note of the feedback on that according to the guys on the stand. Thought the finish on the car looked really good and once Leven start producing ally trim you can ditch the gold bling inside ( a la Tuscan) ! The only issue it seems they still have to resolve is how to open the doors ? The button under the wing mirror is not an option and they currently have to open the doors using access through the rear number plate if that is true ?

Are there any regulations that stipulate how a car door should be opened? I'm thinking safety, in case of a crash, should the door be easy to open from the outside? I'm guessing the new TVR will be meeting all regs for a volume manufacturer, rather than the lesser regs for a low volume cars as they have done in the past?

I'd be surprised if there were any rules on the door handles if McLaren can get away with a hidden rubber button behind an aero blade to open the doors, there is plenty of scope for a clever door release on the new Griffith. For me, the extended rear section of the door is perfect for a little alloy push-button just like on the 90's Griffith thumbup

It was the first time I'd seen the car in the flesh on Saturday and like others it does look much better in the flesh. The photographs don't show just how compact the car is (compared to other modern cars) as it is closer to the T350 in size and proportion than say a current BMW Z4. The proportions and styling seams to gel much better when you walk around the car rather than seeing it in 2d photographs

Interestingly, I was chatting to a guy next to the new car who proclaimed he had cancelled his deposit on the back of the early private viewing, he clearly didn't like the front-end styling but did suggest that after seeing the finished prototype his cancellation may have been a little hasty.
