?!? That would be another 1 year delay compared to the current circulating of production start beginning of 2019 ? Was that a serious statement ? I can (hardly) live with being in line for a Q1 2020 delivery, but what you're saying sounds more like a Q1 2021 arrival, which would be hard to swallow.

Was only open for a very short time Barry so just got a quick look. They lifted the flap with Griffith on it and revealed the space- was about 2/3 width and about 12" deep by say 18" tall. Be even less when the convertible comes along!! I asked about one but was told there was no work completed. Current LE orders will be delivered end 2019 and through 2020.
Was good quality interior feel and fittings although I was only in the passenger seat and Andrea was in the drivers seat.
Looks good in the flesh and close up although still not sure on the front opening shape and why they don't want to put a number plate on it, and that aero flap is always up.
Andrea in sales mode probably sold 2 while we were there.

I really liked the pedals. had assume they would be floor mounted/horrible. but felt really good.

I had a purple TVRCC Peter Wheeler tribute polo shirt and Andrea had a burnt orange T shirt with a naked woman sitting behind a 60's Griff ban the bomb back end (the Griff not the lady) so may have stood out more than most! Was there about 12-2 Saturday.

Anyone who has a Griff probably knows us both and many of the long standing members do also, but I didn't see anyone I knew other than Andy Hills.
My preference is Citroen karma purple metallic - look stunning and would suit the Griff.

I was on the stand Friday when Hammond & May came to look at the car. I was close enough to Hammond to be blinded by his white teeth.

Bullitt..
Thought just occurred to me...
If the rear wing wasn’t going to be retractable why bother with the cut out..?..they’d just bolt it straight on..and possibly extend it across the rear haunches a bit more..?...wouldn’t they ..??

I sincerely hope it is retractable..and want to see it flush..will make the rear view ‘complete’..imo...

Also think the darker headlight lenses as used on the Aston would suit better...??

Hello all, I was at the show on Friday and put my deposit down for the Griff on the stand. I'm a previous T350 owner and hadn't really expected to be buying into the new TVR but I took the plunge on the day and I'm happy with my decision.

I'd like to share some of my thoughts. I've had an Aston Vantage, had an Evora, had an F-type R and I came to the show looking to make a shortlist for my next car, my Giulia Quadrifoglio will need to go next year and I feel like there isn't much out there. What's the choice?

New Vantage, an F-type SVR, Evora 430, Porsche... I had a good look around the Vantage and I agree with many of you, it's a beautiful piece of work even with the front not being as pretty as the last one. Trouble is, it's 140 grand now and at that money it just doesn't work for me. It's just not value at that price, 500bhp and up against a bunch of cars that are really more in supercar territory. If I spend that kind of money or any money I want to feel like I'm getting my moneys worth and the Aston is just overpriced for me. We all know there will be an S version before long and god knows how much that will cost.

The F-type and Evora are great but just so close to what I've had before, just better versions. I don't feel like paying 50% more for an Evora that's maybe 20% better. The F-type isn't even that much better and in truth in never really bonded with mine. I just couldn't use the power without spinning up and although the F-type would have 4 wheel drive it kind of defeats the purpose for me.

Porsche.. look know how great they are but it just doesn't do anything for me.

So why did I put my money down for the Griff? Well the first thing was that in person it doesn't look like a new car with a TVR badge stuck on it. It really does look like a TVR. I would know without a badge. In person the rear 3/4 view is pure T350 and it just ignited that excitement in the belly. I remember how the T350 used to make me feel, excited and wary at the same time. That sense of occasion. I felt it again, especially when they fired it up.

Sitting inside though it feels much more grown up, a proper car I think I could use day to day. I'm not one for Sunday cars. Even the infotainment screens seem properly developed in a way I just wouldn't expect. The Magma red is great in person and the quality of the interior leather work looked great too. The driving position just reminded me so much of my TVR. Stubby gear lever high up, reclined position, I swear if I closed my eyes I could be back there. It just did the business.

I love the side exist exhausts and the fly off handbrake. Love the under body aero which in person looks properly extreme. Bottom line, its looks like a proper car where I'm not going to bake alive like I did in my old one but it is so reminiscent of that old car that it put a big grin my face.

Downsides- the front is fine for me but I agree with most that it could be improved. I don't want to be a pampered wally about it but for gods sake give me somewhere to put a bottle of water and a USB port to charge a phone- I want to use the thing. Wheels could do with some work, I'd like to see it with the spider type design. The boot is small even with the lower floor used below where the show car has it but hey ho.

Biggest downside was actually the signing up process. I nearly walked away after having made the decision. Main reason- they told me put a deposit down, its refundable if we don't deliver. Then when you go to do that, the agreement doesn't say its refundable anywhere. That to me is unprofessional. What's more unprofessional is the reaction I got when I pointed this out. I wasn't going to pull out because of it or anything. What I got was chuckles and the assertion that it should be there, don't know why it isn't and they'd talk to someone but it would take weeks to confirm. Besides, they had all been out pissed up the night before so they cant think about it now. Then I got (jokingly) told that I should go and buy the Vantage.

Now I don't want to overblow things here but seriously? Its a 90 grand car and I'm not the 25 year old that thought it funny when the old TVR sneered at ABS because were all so manly and have big brass balls. I still have big brass balls but I also have a sodding mortgage and a kid and I'm working my arse off for the money it costs. I want these guys to do a proper job and compete- and win in the market. This was not how that get's done.

In the end I went ahead anyway, not that anyone seemed to keen to get my money. Why? Because I thought the car looked great, its Gordon Murray designed and he is a serious individual. I want to support the business because its British, it's ambitious and because I love TVR. I was reminded just how much sitting in the new one and somebody needs to take the plunge. Also because another deposit holder there put it to me exactly that way. Its a punt, and if I accept that I have to ask if its worth it. It is. I asked for someone to send me an email confirming the deposit is refundable, mostly to see if they would. Apparently Les would do it himself- nothing yet.

Anyway all of that said I am now pretty excited about being a small part of this, hopeful that by some miracle I can get an LE. Rented a Mustang this week in the US to play with the 5 litre! It's always possible that I could pull out and here's what would make that happen. They continue to disappoint with the basics of how they deal with customers, I lose my job, or something unexpected appears on the market that changes everything. I can't imagine what that would be, maybe a new Esprit (I have an Esprit thing since boyhood) or the 640bhp Alfa coupe that Autocar made up the other week. Really bloody unlikely in other words. Really now I'm just looking forward to the factory tour and first passenger ride hey told me about, and being part of the TVR fold once again. Proper blood and thunder once again smile I can't wait.

One of the big button no on the car, is a roof up/down button. Pretty sure it will be retractable.

Cathalm - I feel for you - maybe they misread you?

I can't give you a guarantee, but hopefully this page on their website may ease some concern;

https://www.tvr.co.uk/faq

Is my deposit refundable?
Yes, until you place your formal order (once specifications and options have been announced), you will be able to apply for a refund. There will be no deductions for administration fees or the like by TVR, although there may be charges/deductions by bank or credit card companies. All we ask is that if you place a deposit, you do so in good faith.

Is my money at risk?
No – we would never allow that to be the case. We are well funded, and are here to stay! The deposit line has opened in response to a large number of requests from potential customers wishing to place a deposit on the basis of the information currently available both in the motoring press and on our website. If you do not consider this to be sufficient for you to decide whether or not you should place a deposit, we recommend you do not do so. However, if you pay by credit card, your payment is guaranteed by the credit card company.

Enjoy the wait and the car!

Exactly this...my impression from seeing and sitting in it was the same. It feels like a TVR inside and out. That was the biggest change for me from seeing it in the flesh close up compared to photos.

I want one a lot more than I expected - not quite enough though I think. The rareness and nuts looks of the Sag still do it for me
