Dear Spag
Why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a TVR fan
I just don't want you to do some crazy st
I seen this one st on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and sent me a long message.
And had his girlfriend spellcheck, but no one could tell that she did
And in his post I found a mistake, I couldn't tell who it was addressed to
Come to think about, the name Les, it was me
Damn!

I think they are looking for the best time to bury bad news so expect an announcement about the same time as the Brexit deal is voted down by parliament smile

All the recent "big news" announcements have been designed to buy time, nothing else.

Would it not have been possible to go into small scale production by now with say 6 cars a month for the sake of a figure, at a small affordable facility with a small workforce just to get used to assembly and test the parts supply. That would have allowed some more cars for testing and access to journalists and in different trim.

I would have though that some more cars would have been produced by now if everything was in order behind the scenes. I wish them all the best but oh so wish it was more like the white one shown a few pages back as that to me has all the ingredients required to be a TVR.

I suspect they are nowhere near doing even this.

Ok, what's actually in there ?

a) delays, blamed on EU but says car will still come
b) production start pushed back to summer 2019
c) contractor expected to be appointed next week
d) company raising money from old and new investors
e) money for redesign to make fit for US standards
f) because of brexit uncertainty, cost 30 prc of business plan
g) dismisses financial and technical difficulties
h) welsh government statements

My take is:

a) admitting delays is stating the obvious. Not sure about the EU reasoning.
b) follows by common sense
c) first real news, stated by writer, not TVR, let's wait a few days for it to materialize or not
d) common knowledge

e,f) This is the kicker. They are planning to go the US right from the start. That's a bold move. The big question for me is, what does "redesign" imply ?

- is it visual appeal only (taking feedback / market research into account / redesign of the front anyone ?) and the technical base is (almost) there, as indicated by Les in various interviews
- is a major re-engineering needed (as in "have to start from scratch" ) ?
-- does it impact side-pipes ? underfloor-aero ? General appearance ?
- 30 prc of what ? The 10 year plan ? The money spent so far ? In any case, probably a big number.

The true major news in this for me is, that there is no talk of a partner which i thought would be the pending "major news" Les has promised. Or will the major news simply be that they will target the US ? Do they want to go down this route alone ?

g) don't know
h) I'm almost certain that these are article filler material and are not connected to recent developments. The "questioning" one dates back to the beginning of the year and arose after the 3% Welsh Government stake became public. The second one can be read in the welsh assembly minutes also dating back almost a year.

What to make of it ?

I'm not yet 100% sure tbh. Things are not going as planned, that's obvious and was before. They are operating in a pretty hostile environment with increasing environmental regulation, economy cooling, brexit uncertainty and resulting market uncertainties etc.

Not sure if this thing actually is the big news, that was pending. I would have expected (and still do) that announcement to include an actual partner/cooperation. Strongly expect an update from TVR early next week.

I definitely still want this car and i'll hang on for sure. Maybe it's just time to come back checking this thread only once a month instead of every day, have no expectation and just wait to see how it pans out ?

Articles like this appearing in the national press are not good for publicity. We know about the delay with the factory - Les said as much in his last email, but where is the email scheduled for w/c 12th November? ( the one with the BIG news ) The week is all but over, and no word forthcoming . I know things have to be kept under wrap until finalised, but the PR on this new car has not been good. Why hasn't the prototype been road registered? It should only need an IVA test. If road registered, it could have been test driven by some journalists by now and their , hopefully positive, feedback published to wet the appetites of interested buyers and possibly sway some people away from Jaguar, Porsche etc.

Got to the stage now I am going to ask for my deposit back, waited to long now and time is rolling on.
That doesn't seem very logical to me. I mean did you really expect to have your car by now? or even particularly soon? Surely putting a deposit down before they even launched at Goodwood last year meant you must have been willing to wait, and knew that it could be a long wait. Surely you must have realised as with buying a brand new house, there's likely to be some delays. Even by the original timeline you couldn't have expected to get your car before 1st quarter 2019. And as far as I can see they are maybe 9 months behind, 6 months of which is because the EU said they had to put the factory production out to tender to give other areas a chance to bid for it under competition rules!! And yes Les told me that himself when I met him a few months ago, before the telegraph article.

My deposit stays firmly in. It's so good in the flesh.

Questionnaire returned, I thought that was very impressively comprehensive, plus some nice laughs mixed in.

Wow! Didn't think you would get back to me so quickly smile, you've caught me off guard and added further stress to my next car purchase!

I've been very frank with the questionnaire so if my expectations are not accommodated, I am going to be in touch. The griffith as is, is no match for your car, but if enough of us make our case, it could be.

Did anyone else notice how they repeated bodykit and splitter in the wish list?!

Hopefully it is quite high in their priority.

I reckon we have been here before ....

Way back in 1973, AC announced the (for the time) advanced/mid-engined 3000ME sports coupe.

It didn't actually go on sale until 1978/1979.

That project didn't end well either ....

Haha, in truth my GT R is a car I won't own 'forever' as I bought it primarily to daily drive and that's basically what I've done with 18k miles in 12 months so far. I'm looking at something else I'd quite like to add to the garage in the next few weeks but to justify it alongside other arrivals, I'd need to let something depart.
