It’s not actually any later than the last timescale is it?

They’re still sourcing parts going through factory tender process etc

It's been 13 years since the last TVR was made.

It's been nearly 3 years since the "new TVR" was shown and 3 1/2 since they started to take deposits.

In an industry that now has to move very fast and spend huge sums of money just to keep up with technology that's eons.

For perspective the I-Pace concept car was first shown around the same time. That was a totally new vehicle of a totally different type to that which the manufacturer was making and one that required charging infrastructure to be developed and a full re training of the dealer network. I-Pace's are now on the road all over the world.

Meanwhile "new TVR" haven't even sourced all the parts for what is already an out of date design. I honestly can't understand how anyone still expects this not to end in tears.

I'm sure if this was presented on Shark Tank this guy...………...

…...would tell them to take it round the back of the woodshed and shoot it. (Which may be what a number of VC's have already done).

a few pictures from that video and that great looking model,

I also borrowed that part out the video, to make it that model only video, which I will post in my next post.

I may be in the minority, but that's not mad enough for me. TVR could probably get away with selling that for 80k after the launch models but I would price it at 60k base model with optional extras making TVR the money.

I also don't like the flared arches, I'd prefer the wings to be flared because that looks like an afterthought - bolted on arches over the flared wings I wouldn't mind though smile

And yet...
Ford continue with their Mustang RTR
Dodge..with their Demon..
And Chevrolet their Exorcist...

I~Pace...!!!..FFS...if that’s the best example you can come up with...then all the VC’s I know would cream their leather underpants at that pathetic spectacle..

I haven’t seen a single I~P on the road over here yet.
The Taycan will kill the I~P before the sales~children even begin to understand their weekly targets.

Spag when you say Les, are we talking Les Dennis hehe

I think hope is slowly evaporating. The last or the period “close to the last” proposed update deadline as it was described has come and gone. It’s all at bit of a comedy now.

Quick point....the folks banging on about the Griff now being outdated in the fast moving world of automotive development....you have spectacularly missed the point.

It doesn’t really matter. The new TVR is specifically NOT trying to compete with the latest whizz bang gadgetry and tech of the modern automobile. It’s a deliberate old school approach, so of course it’s “outdated”, that’s the point!

The project is progressing admittedly painfully slowly, but I don’t think the timing matters all that much with respect to the relevance of the end product. It’s a deliberately “outdated” product as that’s what people want.

The Griff should not have a tablet and digital display either if that is what TVR think the public want.

Les is trying to be all things to all men.

It's neither retro (interior) nor modern (mclaren headights).

But I half agree with what you say smile

It’s the styling that’s outdated not the engine or transmission or connectivity etc.

It doesn’t look modern or like a classic it just looks a bit disjointed and last year.

Suspect 99.99% of the public still have zero idea that the new Griffith is supposed to be on its way. Although we've all been staring at the shape for the past XX months (and therefore might think it's getting dated), I suspect we are a minority of the market (potential customers) that TVR is aiming for.

Hopefully it won't have keyless entry and will still be in the car park when returning to it with the shopping

There have been a few occasions I can remember seeing and hearing a car out in the wild and thinking ‘wow, I’m going to look into these things’. I may have been dimly aware of them already but it is the visceral experience that really makes a mark.

Only when some Griffs are rumbling around (if the glorious day ever comes) will they register with the general public.

Precisely. It's old fashioned like a 1990's Scion and that's never a good thing.

Anyway, it's all moot because it won't happen but it's kept a discussion going on here for 3 years.

0-60 2.8 seconds, 225 mph, hilarious, it won't be any quicker than a stage 1 GTR...

Although I’d expect that 0-60 to be a bit ambitious with a manual box. Those are the figures from the computer game video presumably, so only have a vague relation with reality.

But it is nicer to look at (even that we 'should' be able to agree on), and a nicer place to be. A better sound-track, and.... errrrr.......

And a factory fresh unmodified Tesla will still pull the GTR’s pants down and then smack it’s bottom on the 0-60. An equally irrelevant point for you contemplate. wink
