0-60 2.8 seconds, 225 mph, hilarious, it won't be any quicker than a stage 1 GTR...
And a factory fresh unmodified Tesla will still pull the GTR’s pants down and then smack it’s bottom on the 0-60. An equally irrelevant point for you contemplate. wink
At least the Tesla and GTR exist in the real world and have been proven, every TVR so far has failed to live up to the hype, an even more relevant point.

Sure, it's a full car. But a lot of stuff was definitely hand-crafted. Sourcing the parts means to have them delivered in the agreed quality, quantity at an agreed time and made to your specs. I guess organizing this is a lot of pain in itself.

Good afternoon keyboard warrior, its nice to have you popping in here and offering insightful factual commentary. Such things are always welcome here, we are a board church!

As a DH and having seen the car in the flesh twice now, I can cunningly deduce that;
1. Its fully functioning car, that moves and steers left and right and lights up and has hinges for doors and an instrument binnacle and all sorts of exciting gadgets, and;
2. A lash up of parts, as you put it, have presented a pretty resolved and well put together car.... so hardly "bodywork and some of the interior"

Now, where is that face palm emoji?

Was it not Les Edgar himself who told us they still have to source 25% of the parts? You are perfectly entitled to express an opinion based on that, despite the fanboys not wanting to hear it smile

I mean has anyone actually seen both sides of the car at the same time? For all we know they could be switching bit's from side to side before they photograph the damn thing.

Having seen this car, and a fair few kit cars/ specials in my time too, I was mightily impressed with the degree of build quality and completeness, far beyond what I was expecting. Especially of a TVR!
A couple of other knowledgeable PHers with me at the time were of exactly the same opinion. Things like brackets tell you a lot; no dexion or offcuts of angle iron there, it was all very factory looking, properly shaped, swaged and finished. If you didn't actually know it was a solitary prototype, you'd think it was a mainstream mass-production model... and I mean that in a complimentary good QC kind of way.
So I tend to think that the whole '25% unsourced' thing is being over-played by the nay-sayers and refers more to lack of signed off supply agreements rather than lack of signed off drawings!

Its really not that difficult to understand surely? The one in the videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmtDy7hBlFY) is a prototype. Prototypes feature parts that are unique or 'best fit'. When you go from prototype to production you have to make a value decision on whether to have bespoke parts made or find an alternative that is off the shelf. TVR are evidently going through that process; its nothing unusual.

I think it's a shame how this thread has turned out.

The last few weeks it's turned into a piss taking thread, surely we all want TVR to succeed don't we?

I must admit I would be worried if I had left a few 000's deposit in case things go tits up, but I would hold my nerve and hope for the best.

I suppose that's easy to say as an interested onlooker though..smile

Les must despair when he reads this thread.

Absolutely. Which is why I am committed to my deposit staying in place.
I am having one as I know it will be built.
Vive le TVR!

Yes to the above but Les doesn't help himself or the car when he keeps making promises he never keeps! So frustrating! The last promised 'update' (with or without the 'big news' from the previous update that did not materialise) is 2 weeks overdue. And that was to reassure you all that the factory refurbishment was underway.
Anyone live near the new factory and had a peek?

In the absence of any meaningful news we just make our own up.

The factory news was supposed to be only the confirmation that the contract was actually awarded. Actual work will not have begun yet (but is supposed to soon).
