I’ve no idea what that is but it’s a joke and they’ll not sell more than 1
Well according to Ginetta they have sold 12 of the first years production run of 20.
You’ll always find a handful of lunatics but the ultra low volume is not the market or regulations TVR are aiming for.

This Ginetta reminds me of the Lister Storm of a few years back

What market are TVR aiming for?

It seems to be people wanting a front engined rear wheel drive GT with a small boot and unusual styling (by Gordon Murray) from a start up with no facilities and poor communication and no idea when the car will be available.

I would suggest that this group isn’t that large either.

Ginetta are hoping to sell 50 a year at £400k

TVR are hoping to hit 2,000 cars a year at £80k

I think that’s a different market proposition and certainly very different regulatory requirements

I would wager they don't sell anywhere near 2000 in total.

That may we’ll be so, although they did hit over 2000 a year in the heyday of the Chimaera and Griffith.

However it is the aspiration

Where did you get that information? Their best production year was 1998 when the total was 1688 cars. And that was when they had 3 models on the go with multiple engine options.

From SMMT:

1998 - 1085 Chimaera, 231 Griffith, 372 Cerbera

By 2001, it was 936 in total across 5 models.

I thought they briefly broached 2000 but happy to bow to your detailed knowledge and call it 1688

Anyway, the point is the new car Their target 2000 a year or even 1000 a year is a very different proposition to 50 of those hideous Ginettas at 4x the price so I don’t think they compete.

I really wish TVR well, I had 6 of them and my best motoring memories are in TVRs .

I haven't seen a chassis number that goes over a 1000 cars made after 2001

How many prior TVR’s were deliberately aimed at overseas sales...?

I’d wager they’ll sell over 2000 units/year without too much trouble. The world is rather a large place these days...

As for the Ginetta..it wasn’t that long ago that some on here were wishing LT had spearheaded TVR’s rebirth ..Ffs that thing’s awful beyond all belief..

Back to the aero-topic (geddit..?)...watch n listen to the praise shovelled all over the Huracan Perormante on ‘The GT’...it’s pretty much all Hammond wet himself over... Apparently it does make a difference to the way it drives...

True, but will they have a route to market, or indeed any kind of support network overseas? Without it, it might be a tough ask.

Route to market will no doubt be their ‘Big News’...

From 2023 all new cars need to meet EUR 7 emission with Lambda = 1, which basically means that the engine power output will be reduced by 30-50%.

Don‘t think Ford will modify their V8 to compensate the power loss as there is no market in Europefor this engine.

N/A engines will die from 2023 onwards.

There is a chance that with a lot of research FI could compensate a part of the power loss, but general consensus in the automotive industry is that future high powered vehicled need to get an additional hybrid/electrical drivetrain to achieve the power outputs from the past.

It seems that all sports cars manufactures will launch the next generation modell with an additional electric drivetrain.

Tough times for a N/A TVR :-(

What market?

Car video gamers from what I can tell.

Still no news?

At least Ginetta got on with it. They have apparently sold 12 of the 20 cars initially scheduled so I guess money can’t buy taste.

I don’t ever see the Griff making production if I’m honest. It will be so out of date by the time it arrives that it will be irrelevant. I love my TVRs but I’m also a realist. Want to be proved wrong but it’s looking more and more like a pipe dream.
