New TVR still under wraps!
Discussion
This has gone from ridiculous downward, the lack of any update or communication is terrible. I’m at the point of giving up just to stick it to them that they can’t piss people around like this - there’s a point where fans and enthusiasts will walk away in droves and it’s abiut there now.

As I said before, I’ve been involved as a component engineering and supply business in a lot of car programs and I know something of the engineering process involved in bringing a vehicle to market.
In my opinion, given they’ve made one working prototype, it leaves a colossal amount of development, engineering and testing to do before they’ve got a finished product.
Your surely have a lot more experience in that field than i do (which is zero), i freely admit that. So your point is, that the car has not been fully engineered yet and is a "working" prototype in the sense that it is, say 75% there ? In my opinion, given they’ve made one working prototype, it leaves a colossal amount of development, engineering and testing to do before they’ve got a finished product.
I don't think so. I believe that GMD is not only capable to design and engineer the car 100% but has also done it. To the point that they could start the approval process. This is exactly what they do for a living. Have you seen the construction videos and the i-stream cut-out video, the torsion impact pics, etc ?
Yes, maybe they took a few shortcuts with the prototype, but the engineering (and also the design) is completed, that i'm sure. There are many obstacles still left, that's for sure though.
As I say, I admire your faith
Obviously they cannot put as many resources into it as Porsche/Merc/Ford etc. but they are aware of the quality issues at previous TVRs and were vocal about that.

Not that the car is finished, they cut a few things short, for example the retractable wing, the door opening etc. I'm saying that the car has been fully engineered. Approval will be according to ESSTA which leaves a lot of crash-related things out. The rest is doable. Will it be errorfree ? hardly. Will they have to adjust things ? definitely. But i think they are 97% there, .

Wow...97%..in one go straight out the box....what are all the other manufacturers messing about at!Obviously they cannot put as many resources into it as Porsche/Merc/Ford etc. but they are aware of the quality issues at previous TVRs and were vocal about that.
I really genuinely admire your optimism.

The new director, Richard Smith, is on Facebook a lot answering questions and comments. You might get something direct from the horse's mouth if you post on there.Scroll down the page to Posts where there is a pic of him sat in a car (20th March).

I work around TVRs everyday, and run a business specialising in taking them apart, and putting them back together (eventually!) I've written a book about them. I own two at the moment. I speak to a lot of people in TVR circles, and do you want to know what the overriding theme is surrounding the new car? No? Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway. It's that the majority of people who have a dig, or who have only got negative things to say, aren't people who've ordered one. Overwhelmingly, the people who've placed orders seem to be patiently waiting, and understanding that the practical realities of building a new car can often differ from the technical planning. It's a mammoth undertaking. There will be delays, and if I was one of the lucky ones with a deposit on, I'd rather assume no news is good news, and that the team are putting their resources into getting my car built, not a PR exercise to appease people who've no intention of buying one. I've got a lot of respect for people who put their faith in this project, and I genuinely hope it works out for each and every one of you.

I'll be more impressed by this over-hyped TVR project when we are told (not rumoured, but authentically told ....) how the prototype performed on rough-road/pave surfaces, whether it overheats in heavy traffic, if the drive train has yet been subjected to full-bore starts without failing, and that it passes all the UK safety/emission and other legislative regulations.
Oh hang it, let's not wait. It seems that it has done none of these things (in fact has it completed any road or track miles at all ?) so if anyone thinks that TVR will deliver a single competently manufactured and tested car in 2019, 2020 or whenever, they need to take medical advice....

If however they’ve done that, you’d surely register the car and be out there on the road racking up the test miles?
If they've only got one showroom-like prototype, they'd be made to risk driving it around on the public roads Edited by RichB on Friday 22 March 20:53
