Interesting post on that page:

Richard Kitchen said:
I work around TVRs everyday, and run a business specialising in taking them apart, and putting them back together (eventually!) I've written a book about them. I own two at the moment. I speak to a lot of people in TVR circles, and do you want to know what the overriding theme is surrounding the new car? No? Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway. It's that the majority of people who have a dig, or who have only got negative things to say, aren't people who've ordered one. Overwhelmingly, the people who've placed orders seem to be patiently waiting, and understanding that the practical realities of building a new car can often differ from the technical planning. It's a mammoth undertaking. There will be delays, and if I was one of the lucky ones with a deposit on, I'd rather assume no news is good news, and that the team are putting their resources into getting my car built, not a PR exercise to appease people who've no intention of buying one. I've got a lot of respect for people who put their faith in this project, and I genuinely hope it works out for each and every one of you.

Lol, not surprising as he is a director of Southways Automotive Ltd - TVR in Hampshire.

Oh and Richard, no news is no news.

And in other news...

About three years ago I decided beastie needed a body off and chassis refurb.... So I'm doing it this year smile Took her off the road in August last year, and she's not been out of the garage since. Only did about 600 miles in her last year frown So, it's time for a refurb, refresh, and lots of top off (the car) motoring this year smile

Yes I know it's the wrong thread, but this one has got so bloody miserable I thought I'd put a little sunshine and smiles in to it... biggrin

Richard, your timings are impeccable. Just like the new TVR, 4 years just to get started. laugh

I think it looks like the project is on the up.

There’s that new chirpy Richard in charge of setting up factories saying “watch this space”.

Presumably he’s being paid so will actually be doing some - factory setting up.

Seems like the first piece of actual tangible activity since the car was revealed and then filmed on that track.

If however they’ve done that, you’d surely register the car and be out there on the road racking up the test miles?
If they've only got one showroom-like prototype, they'd be made to risk driving it around on the public roads smile
As opposed to being mad to let their customers be the first to find the issues? For example, lets say the front wishbone inner mount has a fatigue failure limit and after 15,000 miles the front wheel falls off. Yes, you'd really want one of your customers to find that out first........

Not for nothing do the major players in this game build AP, CP, VP, 1PP and 2PP levels of PD fleets to ensure that the car is properly validated BEFORE it gets anywhere near their customers.........

Guys, the fun has left this thread a long time ago. I don't mind, actually enjoy, discussing with people that hold different opinions and why things can be seen this or that way, but it's turned pretty pathetic as of late.

I'll be off for a while, see ya.

Sorry I meant they’d be mad to risk their single car. They should build another one; they should have simulators running; and so on. I’m just not surprised that that one car is not registered.

I don’t for one moment believe that doing no road testing is reasonable.

I am... your register it, wrap it, drive it until something breaks, fix it, repeat... check the HEVAC works, the door seals don’t leak at 60 in the rain, and a million other things.

Re wrap it or respray it, carry on....

After all, what else is it doing now? Nothing!

The only reason it’s not registered is because it’s not road legal if you ask me

I know I have only made a few comments but I only joined a site to keep an eye on this thread because I am a deposit holder.

However, due to the same reasons as others ie poor communication, multiple long delays and not liking the tame front end, I pulled my deposit a few weeks ago.

I wish TVR all the luck in the future and I may look into buying a more aggressive model in the future once the company is more established

I’m lying by the pool in Punta Cana enjoying my 3rd Coco Loco of the day. My Speedo’s are gently drying in the warm early evening breeze.

The place is a buzz with rumors about the new TVR.

Just joking, of course it’s not. I did get into a lengthy chat with a bloke about the merits of my Aston v my previous Jag though. As I make money from the latter not the former it’s always an interesting chat. And a couple of chaps were deciding whether to get the new Corvette or whether a mid engined ‘Vette is really beyond the pale.

Realize this is all beside the point but just wanted to report from the real world about cars that you can actually buy and enjoy and check in to see if the TVR is in production yet. Apparently not.

.

My lawyers will be writing a strongly worded letter to Messrs Excellence resorts in the morning asking how that photograph came to be in the public domain. And the mankini was yesterday, My Speedo’s are orange. Obviously.
