New TVR still under wraps!
Discussion

This is a serious question as I'm genuinely interested to hear what TVR enthusiasts consider as alternatives to a new TVR... Just for context, I've owned my TVR for nearly 9 years, I have no intent to sell it, certainly not in the near future, and two and a half years ago I added a V8 Vantage to the stable, which I absolutely love....
So, just for discussion, you have £90k to spend on a new toy.... and you have to do it in the next six months.... what'll it be guys?
Can be new or used..........
And why?
I’d go used and go for either an Aston V12 Vantage or Mclaren 570sSo, just for discussion, you have £90k to spend on a new toy.... and you have to do it in the next six months.... what'll it be guys?

Both utterly epic and British.
I thought I’d go for a McClaren after I’d got bored of the R8, but they just have no sound. None.
They ran a selection of them at the member meeting at Goodwood last Sunday, and the sound was so restricted. I know they’re turbo charged but it’s too stifled.
I need to look into decatting one, not sure if the cats integrated with the manifold.
The gtr with the right exhaust even sounds good.
The V10 in the R8 with capristo exhaust sounds the nuts

Guess it depends what matters most to you, the way it drives or the noise. They ran a selection of them at the member meeting at Goodwood last Sunday, and the sound was so restricted. I know they’re turbo charged but it’s too stifled.

It’s got to have a good balance of both. Especially with speed restrictions everywhere. You need to sound fast going slow bertie said:

The only non-TVR I would consider under 90k would be a 355 Berlinetta/GTS with manual ‘box.
Problem is a 355, wonderful though they are, and I loved mine back in the day, is now a 20 plus year old car and cars have come a long way in the past 20 plus years.robsco said:

Almost exactly 31 years between them, the 308 is a beautiful thing and I love it, but when I get chance to go fir a drive the 458 keys find their way into my hand almost every time.

I’d suggest having a go in a Mclaren... to drive they are anything but boring, and I say that as a Ferrari man who by all conventions shouldn’t like them.
There’s no doubt dynamically they are superb, and at current used values represent amazing value. A used 570 is steal of the decade right now imho

For me it would be a merc amg gt. Lovely car.
However, I've found myself needing more practicality and just sold my t350, moving onto an estate car instead - albeit one with 600bhp
I looked at the merc and an r8 v10 before doing so but just needed the space.
That’s a crying shame, sorry to hear you’ve sold! However, I've found myself needing more practicality and just sold my t350, moving onto an estate car instead - albeit one with 600bhp

The R8 and GT-r Mercedes just feel a little too 'mass-produced' to give the same 'oh my God. I'm going to die...' feeling that you get when you hoof a TVR, and that was lacking in the V8 Vantage despite all the noise. Its what the new unicorn Griffith needs to dish-up, and its certainly there in the 570s

the wood on your garage is aging nicely - still one of the best ones I have seen, love it (and your cars obviously)
Cheers, I’ve recently changed the doors as the manual draughty barn doors were a pain in the ass, to automatic sectional doors. So now it looks like this...sorry for thread deviation... mind you not much else happening!
