New TVR still under wraps!

Wow that article was 2015! Big plans for 2017... “Les Edgar says that once TVR is back producing cars, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. “We are a well-funded, well-supported organization and boast a vastly experienced management team. We are here to stay and we have a fully evolved 10-year plan for product and business development, and are committed to deliver on all the targets we have set ourselves – as we have done to date."
A ten year plan... they’ve burnt 5 years, to get a prototype together.
Maybe they're working on a "Virtual Reality " computer game … based on designing, building and racing a Le Mans car
That appears to be where their expertise lies .
PS Or maybe after buying his golf course , Les is working on getting his handicap down to scratch

Surely Les has ordered plenty of motors and knows how depositors are treated?
Every single car I've been on the order book for have regularly sent me things like books, golf balls and tees etc. I think one of them also sent a small toy car. Head Office would ring up and offer invites to unveiling of other models etc. My cousin who has an order for a Toyota, A TOYOTA, is going to a trackday courtesy of the manufacturer - yes, ok, money is tight, I don't want free gifts, but tell me you are listening to depositors and making changes and things are getting delayed because of it.
The only other car where I haven't received much (but still more communication than TVR) is my order of the M2 CSL/GTS - but nobody knows if that car is going to be made, err....
So why is he wasting so much slapping three letters each side of an unrelated LMP1 car? Surely he would better have spent his money advertising somewhere more mainstream? Yes, ok his target audience are car enthusiasts, but he's going to need more than enthusiasts to get the Newco sustainable. Oldco managed it briefly with the Griffith and Chimaera and got selling to more mainstream buyers. How many adverts could he have placed in Top Gear magazine, Autosport, Motor, etc. That would have kept the name in the forefront of everyone's mind. Not just a few thousand Brits and perhaps a few hundred others around the world that follow WEC. And then, not all WEC fans are TVR fans. Why does he have to advertise at all? He had [allegedly] 500 deposits, so that was the first 500 cars sold. 500 happy customers. 500 evagialists for the brand (of which I would have been one), many of these folks pitching up at track days showing 'proper' supercars the way round (I'd have been up for that!), many of the 500 tweeting/posting/instagraming from far off places showing crowds assembled around the car. And these folks would have been brand ambassadors - their cars and enthusiasm would have been enough to get the thing rolling. Then once the hard core petrolhead word-of-mouth audience has been addressed then yes, sure, advertise to 'Joe Public'. But what the hell's the point advertising a non-existent product when you've already got 500 firm orders that you can't fulfil?Despite some posters saying this thread is negative towards TVR, everyone that put a deposit down was like a dog with two tails having the means and opportunity to secure a new TVR! They were so supportive of TVR they laid down £5000 (or £2500). This was the only car I'd ever put a deposit on - a once-in-a-lifetime move for me - and I was over the moon. In the passing months and years I have gone through disappointment, cynicism, and now I'm actually quite bitter about how this has all turned out It didn't have to be this way.

Exactly the same here, TVR are going to get a hammering in the press and be the laughing stock for years if they don't show progress soon. Indeed. But there is no connection at all between the two other than Les' stated desire to go one make racing with Newco Griffith.
How many hundreds of thousands has that sponsorship cost?
I remember the TVRCC paid thousands just to have their logo on the end plates of the wing on the TVR at just LM24.
Les could have spent that money a lot more wisely.

This whole thing is beginning to look more like a vanity project. Les seems to not have enough key personnel to deliver a car anytime soon, insufficient finances (?), diverting attention onto other projects that dilute effort on actually getting vehicles built.
But at least the biscuits are safe.
My last contact with a deposit has now withdrawn. It now looks more and more like even the faithful have given up.

Just need to ditch the v8 and create a manual electric sports car like this Ferrari

Well clearly an 80 mile range one wouldn’t be a great idea ! I do seriously think (and posted it months ago) think that Tvr will fail with their venture and that maybe a battery driven Tvr might stand a better chance of making a success of it. so no
An 80 mile range in a battery powered TVR is better than no TVR.
Or is it?
They could always buy a few batteries from Tesla for better range performance and install them in a V formation for better effect with V8 rockers and soundtrack.
I think we might be onto something here. Les..............

Its not too late to change the power plant. As long ago as 2012 another small volume car manufacturer in the UK built an electric version.
Apparently it may also run on coke.

Still astounds me why electric cars are being embraced as the future. The majority of our power comes from burning stuff!!
Nuclear power projects have been canned.
Where an earth do people think all of this electricity to charge the cars is coming from. Beside the fact the exiting network isn’t up to the potential demand.
